Job Description
- 7/7 work schedule (with flexible options available)
- Comfort with procedures is preferred but not mandatory
- ICU coverage with support from Pulmonary Critical Care specialists
- High-acuity ICU patients are transferred to our main medical center
- Average of 8 admissions per 12-hour shift, with APP assistance until midnight
- Potential for telehealth services to be introduced in the future
Our facility, a Level 4 Trauma Center, is licensed for 146 beds and currently operates with 101 staffed beds. Last year, our 24/7 emergency department saw over 20,000 visits. We have an 8-bed ICU, 5 NICU beds, and 15 obstetrics beds, with over 600 births and nearly 4,400 admissions recorded in the past year. We serve as a community medical center located in West Des Moines, focusing on general medical-surgical care, obstetrics, orthopedics, and bariatrics.

Our medical center has been dedicated to serving the community since 1893 and is a Level II Trauma center. We operate four non-profit Catholic medical facilities and two specialty hospitals, totaling 875 beds. Our parent organization encompasses 420 care locations, including 18 owned hospitals and 25 affiliated medical centers, addressing the healthcare needs of Iowans statewide.
