You will be supporting children and young people with a variety of additional needs, helping them access learning, regulate behaviour and build confidence in a safe and structured environment.This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is committed to inclusion and wants to make a meaningful difference every day.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groupsAssist with behaviour regulation and emotional support strategiesHelp deliver tailored learning activities under teacher guidancePromote positive behaviour and reinforce school routinesSupport communication needs using appropriate strategies (visuals, prompts, etc.)Build trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and progressContribute to a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environmentHow Children May Present (Behaviour & Inclusion Needs)You may be supporting children and young people who present with a wide range of needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), Sensory Processing Delay (SPD) and communication difficulties.Pupils may:Experience challenges with emotional regulation, including frustration, anxiety, or shutdown/meltdown responsesDisplay behaviour that can be challenging or communicate unmet needsRequire consistent routines and clear, structured expectationsStruggle with transitions or changes to their dayNeed support with social interaction and understanding boundariesUse alternative communication methods such as visuals, PECS, or gesturesRequire sensory breaks or time in calm, low-stimulation environmentsYour role is not just to manage behaviour, but to understand the underlying need and support positive outcomes through patience, consistency and empathy.What Were Looking ForExperience working with children or young people (SEN experience desirable)Calm, resilient and adaptable approachStrong communication and teamwork skillsA genuine passion for inclusion and supporting vulnerable learnersAbility to build positive relationships and act as a trusted adultWhy Work for Connex EducationAt Connex Education, we are committed to supporting both our staff and the schools we partner with to create meaningful, long-term impact in education.
