Building a sustainable tomorrow KierBAM are a Joint Venture (JV) partnership between Kier and BAM UK & Ireland - BAM UK & Ireland's infrastructure segment is currently delivering the redevelopment project at a Royal Navy site located in Plymouth and we are seeking an experienced Service Locator.The Service Locator will carry out the physical check and survey of all of the underground services within the area that is being investigated, the Service Locator will have the following responsibilities. You will use various geophysical techniques to locate the service, once they have been found, the services will be marked/spray painted onto the ground in the appropriate colour, defining the type and depth of the service. You will also maintain the contents of the permits on site, making sure the workforce remains compliant with conditions and processes outlined within the permits.Due to the site being a high-security military naval base, additional security checks will be required a BPSS level of security clearance is necessary. These checks can take up to 8 weeks to process. Only candidates holding EU, NATO, 5 Eyes, or MISWG member passports and who have been UK residents for the last 5 years can be considered for this role.Your team Location: Devonport Dockyard, PlymouthContract: Permanent, 42.5 hours a weekMaking Possible In this role as Service Locator, you will be working in a live MOD facility. Your day-to-day tasks will include:Authorise Permit to Break SurfaceEnsure compliance with and enforcement of the project permit for the Break Ground procedureReview method statements tailored to specific tasksMark all services within the work boundaries to protect colour standardsProvide teams with an overview of the services within their designated work boundaries and discuss methods for working around those affected services.Implement an 8-point checklist during work gang briefingsEnforce any designated exclusion zones surrounding affected servicesObtain the required signatures for permit approval from the works team and the Project EngineerNotify the BOSC of any discrepancies in the recordsInvestigate uncharted services as directed by the BOSCInform the BOSC of any services that have been removed from the work area, ensuring the service drawings are updated accordinglyAttach the most current SMD CAD drawing to the permit-to-digEnsure that no work gang operates under an expired permit for breaking ground or in an area lacking a permit.Maintain service markings for the duration of the permit as well as incremental scans as excavations progressThis profile is not exhaustive. From time to time, you may be required by the Company to perform other tasks, which are not included in the above description, but are within your capabilities and, where necessary, training, and full support will be givenWhat do you bring to the role? Essential:We are seeking a candidate who can handle multiple tasks, show flexibility, and become a key contributor to our teamA CSCS Card is required (this must be obtained before commencing work)Familiarity with Electromagnetic location and ground penetrating radar is essentialA solid understanding of industry practices and standards related to utility detection, including PAS 128 and TSA, is importantCandidates should have a proficient working knowledge of surveying equipment, such as GPR, CAT, and Genny utility detection toolsThe ability to collaborate and communicate effectively within a team and interact with clients on-site is requiredKnowledge of HSG-47 and GS-6DesirableExperience in the Nuclear environment would be considered beneficialQCF Level 3 or Level 5 certification in utility mapping is preferredApplicants should possess a minimum of 2-3 years of utility surveying experienceWhats in it for you?
