Specialising in the design, fabrication and installation of high-quality building envelope systems across the commercial, residential, retail, leisure and industrial sectors.As the business project portfolio continues to grow, we are looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to lead the in-house design team and support the successful delivery of complex faade projects.The RoleThe Design Manager will lead the design department, ensuring the successful delivery of multiple faade projects from tender handover through to manufacture and installation.This role requires an experienced faade professional with extensive knowledge of aluminium glazing systems, curtain walling, windows, doors and associated building envelope products. The successful candidate will manage a team of designers while working closely with our commercial, production and installation departments to deliver technically robust, buildable and commercially successful solutions.Key ResponsibilitiesLeadership & Team ManagementLead, mentor and develop the in-house faade design team.Allocate design resources across multiple live projects.Carry out design reviews and provide technical guidance.Support recruitment, training and professional development.Promote collaboration across all departments.Design ManagementManage projects from contract award through to completion.Review and approve construction details.Technical ResponsibilitiesDevelop practical and innovative faade solutions.Review architectural and structural drawings.Ensure compliance with:o Building Regulationso CWCT Guidelineso Relevant British Standardso Client specificationsSupport value engineering while maintaining quality and performance.Project CoordinationAttend client, consultant and design team meetings.Coordinate with architects, engineers and main contractors.Manage RFIs and technical submissions.Support commercial teams with design-related variations.Work closely with fabrication and installation teams to ensure buildability.Manufacturing & InstallationLiaise with production to ensure designs are practical and efficient to manufacture.Resolve technical issues during fabrication and installation.Ensure installation methodology is considered throughout the design process.Essential ExperienceProven experience managing commercial faade design projects.Strong understanding of:o Curtain Wallingo Aluminium Windows & Doorso Structural Glazingo Brise Soleilo Canopy Systemso Fire-rated Aluminium SystemsExperience working with leading system suppliers such as SchcoSoftware - AutoCADTPBN1_UKTJ
