Embedded Linux Software EngineerLocation: Manchester (Hybrid - 3 days office / 2 days home)Salary: Up to £60,000 + BonusOur client, a well-established and growing engineering business based in Manchester, is looking for an experienced Embedded Linux Software Engineer to join their software development team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on complex, physical product-based systems with long product lifecycles, contributing to system architecture and low-level embedded development within a collaborative, technically-driven environment.You'll be working on resource-constrained embedded platforms, helping shape system architecture, and developing robust, high-quality software for real-world hardware applications.The RoleAs Embedded Linux Software Engineer, you'll play a key role in designing and developing software for embedded systems, working closely with hardware and firmware teams to deliver reliable, well-architected solutions.You'll bring strong object-oriented development skills and genuine embedded Linux expertise to a business that values engineering rigour and long-term product thinking.Essential ExperienceExperience developing for embedded Linux systems, with in-depth knowledge of system architecture designExperience developing commercial object-oriented applications using a C-like language, ideally C++ or C#Experience developing for resource-constrained embedded platformsExperience developing large-scale applications using Git version controlDesirable ExperienceExperience developing GUI applications for embedded Linux systemsA strong appreciation of the hardware environment your software runs withinProfessional experience developing applications in C#Development within the Debian ecosystem, including CI/CDExperience using Microsoft Visual StudioExperience developing for HMI-based systemsDemonstrable knowledge of XAML/WPF development using the MVVM patternExperience with Agile methodologies such as SAFeKnowledge of machine-to-machine communication protocols and technologies (e.g. Fieldbus, industrial Ethernet protocols, MQTT)What's on OfferSalary up to £60,000, dependent on experienceAnnual bonus schemeHybrid working - 2 days from home per weekThe opportunity to work on complex, meaningful engineering challenges within a stable, product-focused businessIf you're an embedded software engineer with a strong grounding in Linux systems and object-oriented development, and you're looking to bring your skills to a business building genuinely impactful products, we'd love to hear from you.TPBN1_UKTJ
