An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Electrical Technician to join a world-leading scientific and advanced engineering organisation operating one of Europe's most sophisticated large-scale research facilities.The organisation develops and operates highly complex electrical, RF, control, instrumentation and accelerator systems that support cutting-edge scientific research across engineering, materials science, life sciences, environmental science and advanced manufacturing. With a major multi-million-pound upgrade programme underway, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development and operation of one of the UK's most technically advanced engineering facilities.This is a hands-on senior technical role supporting the installation, commissioning, maintenance and continuous improvement of complex electrical and control systems. Working closely with project engineers, technical specialists and external contractors, you will supervise electrical activities, support major upgrade programmes and ensure the reliable operation of critical accelerator infrastructure.This role would suit an experienced Electrical Technician, Senior Electrical Technician, Electrical Maintenance Engineer or Controls Technician looking to work on technically challenging systems within a highly collaborative engineering environment.Main Responsibilities of the Senior Electrical Technician(Didcot):Support major upgrade projects across complex electrical, control and instrumentation systemsCarry out inspection, testing and maintenance of electrical systems supporting high-technology engineering equipmentAssist with the design, manufacture, installation and commissioning of new electrical systems and infrastructureSupport maintenance and upgrade activities for RF, instrumentation, diagnostics and vacuum systemsSupervise the build, installation and testing of electrical panels, control racks and associated equipmentConduct factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT) and commissioning activitiesSupervise contractors and external suppliers, including permits to work and project coordinationLine manage and mentor technicians and apprentices within the engineering teamAnalyse equipment failures and contribute to maintenance planning and continuous improvement initiativesUpdate electrical drawings, documentation and asset records to reflect installed systemsProcure electrical components, equipment and workshop materials as requiredEnsure compliance with electrical safety legislation, quality standards and engineering best practiceRequirements of the Senior Electrical Technician (Didcot):Proven experience within Electrical Engineering, Electrical Maintenance, Controls Engineering or Electrical Installation in a complex engineering environmentExperience working on industrial electrical systems, control systems or instrumentation equipmentStrong understanding of electrical testing, fault finding and commissioning activitiesAbility to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and engineering documentationExperience supervising electrical installations, contractors or technical teamsStrong fault diagnosis and problem-solving skillsExperience maintaining accurate engineering documentation and recordsExcellent communication and organisational skills with the ability to work across multidisciplinary engineering teamsExperience within one or more of the following technologies would be advantageous:Electrical control systemsInstrumentation systemsPLC-controlled equipmentIndustrial automationRF systemsHigh-voltage or low-voltage distribution systemsVacuum systemsScientific research facilitiesLarge-scale industrial plantComplex electrical infrastructureDesirable:HNC, HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or a related disciplinePrevious experience within scientific research, particle accelerators, advanced manufacturing or highly regulated engineering environmentsExperience supervising technicians, apprentices or contractorsKnowledge of electrical inspection and testing regulationsExperience supporting large capital engineering projectsFamiliarity with electrical CAD documentation and engineering change processesWorking Pattern & Benefits:Site-based role in Didcot, OxfordshireOpportunity to work on one of the UK's most advanced scientific and engineering facilitiesInvolvement in a major long-term engineering upgrade programme worth several hundred million poundsHighly collaborative multidisciplinary engineering environmentExcellent long-term technical and career development opportunitiesCompetitive salary and comprehensive benefits packageGenerous pension schemeAnnual leave entitlementOngoing technical training and professional developmentOpportunity to contribute to internationally recognised scientific research and innovationTo apply for this Senior Electrical Technician role, please send your CV to Kishan Chandarana:TPBN1_UKTJ
