Our Aerospace and Defence Hub in Farnborough delivers critical boundary security and managed services protecting UK defence networks at the organisation perimeter.About the Role The Boundary Managed Service Lead oversees the design, implementation and ongoing management of boundary security and managed services protecting defence organisations' network perimeters. You will manage boundary security operations, lead service delivery teams, ensure SLA compliance, and maintain the security posture of critical defence network boundaries. This role requires deep expertise in boundary security technologies, managed service delivery and defence security protocols.Key Responsibilities Boundary Service Management & DeliveryOversee end-to-end boundary managed service delivery including design, implementation and operationsManage boundary security SLAs, ensuring 100% compliance with availability, performance and security targetsLead boundary security operations team, ensuring round-the-clock monitoring and threat detectionManage boundary service P&L and resource allocation across multiple customer accountsEstablish and maintain boundary service quality standards and operational proceduresBoundary Architecture & SecurityDesign and implement boundary security architectures including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention and DDoS protectionArchitect boundary security solutions aligned with MOD security requirements and defence standardsDesign boundary traffic inspection, content filtering and advanced threat protectionLead boundary security assessments and vulnerability remediationImplement MOD-compliant boundary configurations and security baselinesIncident Management & Threat ResponseLead boundary security incident detection, investigation and responseManage security alerts, anomaly investigation and threat escalationCoordinate incident response across boundary security team and customer security teamsConduct post-incident reviews and implement preventative measuresMaintain security event logs and provide compliance reporting to MODTechnology & Service DevelopmentEvaluate and implement boundary security technologies and toolsDesign automation and orchestration for boundary security operationsLead service improvements and operational efficiency initiativesManage technology refresh and boundary appliance upgradesDevelop and implement boundary security monitoring and reporting dashboardsTeam Leadership & Customer ManagementLead and develop boundary security operations teamsManage customer relationships and provide executive-level reporting on boundary security postureConduct customer reviews and communicate security recommendationsIdentify service expansion opportunities and support account growthCompliance & Security GovernanceEnsure boundary services maintain compliance with MOD security standards and regulatory requirementsImplement and maintain security event logging and audit capabilitiesSupport security compliance assessments and third-party auditsManage personnel vetting compliance for boundary security teamEssential Requirements Security ClearanceMust hold DV clearance - Essential10 years continuous UK residency requiredExperience & ExpertiseMinimum 10 years' boundary security or network security experienceMinimum 4 years managing boundary security operations or managed security servicesStrong background in defence, aerospace or government security programmesDemonstrated expertise with boundary security technologies (firewalls, IDS/IPS, DDoS protection)Track record of managing security operations teams and delivering managed servicesTechnical KnowledgeExpert-level knowledge of firewall technologies, intrusion detection/prevention systems and DDoS mitigationStrong understanding of network security architecture and boundary security designProficiency in security incident investigation and threat analysisKnowledge of security event management, SIEM and log analysisUnderstanding of vulnerability assessment and remediation processesFamiliarity with MOD security requirements, Classification Guides and defence standardsKnowledge of managed service delivery models and SLA managementPersonal AttributesExceptional leadership and team management capabilitiesOutstanding customer engagement and communication skillsStrong decision-making under pressure, particularly in security incidentsDetail-oriented with strong focus on SLA complianceCommitment to security excellence and continuous improvementDesirable Requirements Experience with Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco or equivalent enterprise firewallsExperience with DDoS protection and advanced threat protection platformsCISSP or CCNP Security certificationArmed Forces or military operations backgroundExperience managing high-security managed services contractsWhat We Offer Highly competitive salary and comprehensive benefits packageEnhanced pension and private medical insuranceFlexible working and professional development supportOpportunity to protect critical UK defence networksApplication Process & Security Vetting DV clearance is essential.
