Mercy Fort Smith's Med Surg Service Line is made up of 8 specialty units that will provide experience with patient populations with a varying range of diagnoses and care needs. Functionally, these units house and care for patients who are preparing for or recovering from medical and surgical interventions. While you will have a "home unit", we cross-train our nurses between the various specialties to provide a strong foundational knowledge of all types of patient conditions, comorbidities, procedures, etc. Whether you are a new grad nurse looking to build a strong base before launching into your future career/educational plans or an experienced nurse who enjoys variety in their everyday work, Med Surg is the place for you!\n

Oncology 5500 Unit Details:

\n

\n
• Beds: 23
\n
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 6:1
\n
• Patient Population: Cancer, Blood disorders, and diabetic patients.
\n

\n

Qualifications:

\n

\n
• Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program (Associate degree, Diploma, or BSN).
\n
• Licensure: Current RN license in the hiring state and/or compact licensure; must meet state board requirements.
\n
• Certifications: American Heart Association BLS and ACLS required or obtained within 90 days of hire.
\n
