We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional needs at a welcoming school in Plymouth. This part-time role involves working one full day and four mornings per week, providing tailored support to a child who is non-verbal and has global developmental delay.

Day-to-day of the role:

    \n
  • Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with special educational needs.
  • \n
  • Adapt activities and learning materials to meet the individual needs of the pupil.
  • \n
  • Support the development of communication skills and engagement for a non-verbal child.
  • \n
  • Encourage the pupil's social, emotional, and educational development.
  • \n
  • Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to the pupil's education.
  • \n
  • Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment.
  • \n
\n

Required Skills & Qualifications:

    \n
  • Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
  • \n
  • Experience supporting children with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), Global Developmental Delay, and/or non-verbal communication needs.
  • \n
  • A patient, nurturing, and resilient approach to challenging situations.
  • \n
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • \n
  • Ability to build positive relationships with children and staff.
  • \n
