Teaching Assistant (SEN)

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support a pupil with additional needs at a welcoming school in Plymouth. This part-time role involves working one full day and four mornings per week, providing tailored support to a child who is non-verbal and has global developmental delay.
\nDay-to-day of the role:

- Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with special educational needs. \n
- Adapt activities and learning materials to meet the individual needs of the pupil. \n
- Support the development of communication skills and engagement for a non-verbal child. \n
- Encourage the pupil's social, emotional, and educational development. \n
- Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to the pupil's education. \n
- Promote a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment. \n
Required Skills & Qualifications:
\n- \n
- Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN). \n
- Experience supporting children with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs), Global Developmental Delay, and/or non-verbal communication needs. \n
- A patient, nurturing, and resilient approach to challenging situations. \n
- Strong communication and teamwork skills. \n
- Ability to build positive relationships with children and staff. \n
