CNC Turner Programmer

RotherhamPermanent position£18-£19 per hour

Shillito Group are recruiting for an experienced CNC Turner Programmer to join a well established precision engineering business in Rotherham.

This is a hands on programming and setting role for someone who is comfortable taking a component from drawing through to finished part.

You will be working on modern CNC turning equipment, producing high precision components and taking responsibility for programming, tooling, setting, inspection and process improvement.

• Programming, setting and operating CNC turning machinery
\n
• Producing precision components from engineering drawings
\n
• Creating, editing and improving CNC programs
\n
• Setting tooling and preparing machines for production
\n
• Adjusting speeds, feeds, offsets and machine parameters
\n
• Completing first off checks and in-process inspection
\n
• Working with driven tooling and multi-axis machining
\n
• Identifying and resolving machining issues
\n
• Improving cycle times, tool life and production efficiency
\n
• Running more than one machine where required
\n
• Completing quality and traceability documentation
\n
• Supporting wider continuous improvement activity
\n

You will need previous experience programming and setting CNC lathes or turning centres.

This is not an operator only position, so you should be comfortable editing or writing programs, setting tools and offsets, proving out jobs and inspecting your own work.

• Bar fed machining
\n
• Driven or live tooling
\n
• Small or complex precision components
\n
• G-code programming
\n
• CAM-based programming
\n
• Working to tight tolerances
\n
• Machining stainless steel, titanium, brass or engineering plastics
\n

You should also be confident reading engineering drawings and using micrometres, callipers, gauges and other precision inspection equipment.
