Platform Engineer
Job Description
Platform Engineer
\nLondon - 3 days a week onsite
\nUp to £75,000
\n12-month FTC
\nA 100-person fintech in London is adding a third person to its Platform team. Two engineers currently run the whole thing. You'd be the third (although there is a dev team of 10 too!)
\nWhat you'd actually be doing:
\n- \n
- Running and improving the Azure platform that everything else at the business sits on top of. In practice that means: \n
- Building and maintaining infrastructure in Terraform, properly, as code, reviewed \n
- Running workloads on Kubernetes (AKS) \n
- Owning and improving CI/CD in GitHub Actions \n
- Working across a wide spread of Azure services - Azure Firewall, networking, identity, monitoring, and more as the platform grows \n
- Making life easier for the engineering teams who use the platform, not just keeping the lights on \n
The team is small and the remit is broad. If you like being handed one narrow slice of the stack and told to stay in it, this isn't the one.
\n\nCore stack: Azure, Kubernetes (AKS), Terraform, GitHub Actions, Prometheus, Grafana, PowerShell, etc.
\n\nYou don't need to be a senior engineer.
\nThe team already has senior people. What they need is someone solid who wants to go deep on cloud infrastructure and will actually own things. You don't need to be an Azure specialist. If your background is AWS and you know your way around EKS, Terraform and pipelines, you'll pick this up.
\nWhat's important, is that you can work without a lot of process around you.
\n\nNice to have, not required: Azure certifications, fintech or regulated-environment experience.
