We are seeking a Senior AWS Solution Architect to join our team for a 12-month contract. This role involves providing architecture leadership across a cloud-based occupancy data platform hosted within AWS, which is crucial for operational decision-making and future platform growth.

Day-to-day of the role:

\n
• Define and maintain the target architecture for the platform.
\n
• Establish architecture principles, standards, and integration patterns.
\n
• Lead technical design decisions across platform, integration, and data domains.
\n
• Ensure solution designs meet security, scalability, resilience, and performance requirements.
\n
• Design integration approaches for WiFi, IoT, and future data sources.
\n
• Review and assure engineering designs, technical solutions, and implementation approaches.
\n
• Support backlog refinement by assessing technical feasibility, risks, and dependencies.
\n
• Ensure alignment with AWS Well-Architected Framework principles.
\n
• Define infrastructure, security, and operational architecture requirements.
\n
• Establish observability, monitoring, and operational support patterns.
\n
• Manage architectural risks, technical debt, and non-functional requirements.
\n
• Support architecture governance forums, design reviews, and assurance activities.
\n
• Collaborate closely with business and technical stakeholders to ensure solutions align with strategic objectives.
\n
• Contribute to platform roadmap development and long-term technology strategy.
\n

Required Skills & Qualifications:

\n
• Active SC Clearance is a must
\n
• Extensive experience designing and governing enterprise-scale AWS architectures.
\n
• Proven experience defining target architectures for cloud, data, and integration platforms.
\n
• Experience leading architecture decisions across multidisciplinary delivery teams.
\n
• Strong background designing secure cloud solutions within regulated environments.
\n
• Experience implementing event-driven, serverless, and API-led architectures.
\n
• Experience supporting data-intensive platforms with multiple ingestion and integration sources.
\n
• Experience establishing architecture standards, patterns, and quality controls.
\n
• Experience designing solutions for scalability, resilience, availability, and operational support.
\n
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, and DevSecOps practices.
\n
• Strong stakeholder management skills with experience engaging senior technical, programme, and business leadership teams.
\n
• Ability to produce solution architectures, architecture roadmaps, and high- and low-level design documentation.
\n
• Experience managing technical debt, architectural risk, and platform evolution.
\n

Desirable:

\n
• Experience with IoT, smart building technologies, or occupancy analytics platforms.
\n
• AWS IoT services and edge integration experience.
\n
• Knowledge of Cisco Meraki platforms and WiFi analytics solutions.
\n
• Experience delivering architectures within government, public sector, or highly regulated environments.
\n
• Familiarity with workplace technology, estates, or property-related programmes.
\n
• Understanding of NCSC Cloud Security Principles and Zero Trust Architecture concepts.
\n
• Experience supporting data platform and integration architecture initiatives.
\n
