Engineering SupervisorEast LancashireUp to £55,000 DOEMonday to Friday08:00 to 16:30PermanentThe CompanyA well-established FMCG manufacturer operating in a fast paced, high compliance environment. The site maintains strict standards across food safety, engineering reliability and operational performance, with the engineering team playing a key role in keeping production running and supporting continuous improvement.They are looking for an Engineering Supervisor to lead the engineering function, manage a multi skilled team and drive performance across maintenance, compliance and improvement activity.The RoleThe Engineering Supervisor will oversee the full engineering operation, ensuring machinery, equipment and site services remain safe, compliant and running efficiently.This is a hands-on leadership role covering planned maintenance, breakdown response, engineering standards, contractor management and improvement projects. You will work closely with production leadership to maximise uptime and minimise disruption.Key Responsibilities:Lead, support and develop the engineering team to ensure capability, engagement and strong performanceManage the site PPM system with full compliance and timely completion of planned tasksTake ownership of breakdown response and deliver effective root cause solutionsReduce downtime through analysis, problem solving and preventative actionsOversee mechanical and electrical fault finding and assist with hands on repairs when requiredManage external contractors for specialist maintenance, servicing and engineering projectsLead commissioning of new machinery, equipment and site improvement projectsContribute to capital investment decisions including machinery selection, installation and upgradesManage engineering spares strategy ensuring availability while controlling cost and stock levelsEnsure all equipment remains safe, compliant and fully fit for purposeMaintain compliance with Health and Safety legislation, GMP, HACCP and QMS requirementsOwn engineering standards including guarding, risk reduction and audit readinessManage effluent systems and ensure environmental and regulatory complianceAnalyse downtime data and implement structured plans to improve reliabilityProduce monthly engineering reports covering performance, downtime, spend and improvement activityManage engineering budgets and ensure spend aligns with site prioritiesWork closely with production teams to coordinate downtime and minimise operational impactSupport recruitment, onboarding and development of engineering personnel including apprenticesRepresent engineering in daily production meetings and site communicationsThe Person:Strong background in FMCG, food manufacturing or fast paced production environmentsExperience leading or supervising engineering or maintenance teamsSolid understanding of mechanical and electrical systemsConfident fault finding and problem solving in live production settingsStrong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, QMS and Health and Safety complianceExperience managing contractors and external engineering supportAbility to analyse downtime and deliver structured improvement activityConfident managing budgets, cost control and engineering spendStrong communicator able to work effectively across production, engineering and managementHands on leadership style with strong ownership and accountabilityOrganised, methodical and able to prioritise in a high pressure environmentKeywordsEngineering Supervisor, Maintenance Supervisor, Engineering Team Leader, Maintenance Engineer, Multi Skilled Engineer, FMCG Engineer, Food Manufacturing, Bakery, PPM, Planned Maintenance, Fault Finding, Mechanical, Electrical, HACCP, Health and Safety, Continuous Improvement, Production EngineeringAt Winsearch, we are committed to equal opportunities and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates.INDWINOur clients and their customers come from diverse backgrounds and so do we.
