Private Housing Standards OfficerLocation: West LondonRate: £40 per hour UmbrellaContract: 3-Month Ongoing ContractHours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am – 5:00pmWorking Pattern: 4 Days Onsite / 1 Day Remote.Key Responsibilities\n

- Investigate complaints relating to poor housing conditions within the private rented sector. \n
- Conduct property inspections and assess hazards using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS). \n
- Investigate reports of sub-standard Houses in Multiple Occupation (HMOs). \n
- Undertake HMO licensing inspections and compliance assessments. \n
- Advise landlords, managing agents and tenants on housing standards and legal requirements. \n
- Prepare schedules of work and negotiate improvements with property owners. \n
- Take informal and formal enforcement action where necessary. \n
- Draft and serve statutory notices in accordance with the Housing Act 2004 and associated legislation. \n
- Monitor compliance with enforcement actions and undertake follow-up inspections. \n
- Support policy development and initiatives aimed at improving housing standards across the borough. \n
- Maintain accurate records and prepare detailed reports and case files. \n

- Private Sector Housing Enforcement. \n
- HMO Licensing and Regulation. \n
- Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS). \n
- Investigating poor living standards and housing condition complaints. \n
- Housing Act 2004 enforcement. \n
- Environmental Health or Housing Standards functions within a local authority setting. \n
- Preparing and serving statutory notices and enforcement documentation. \n
- Managing complex housing enforcement cases from investigation through to resolution. \n

- Strong understanding of the Housing Act 2004 and associated housing legislation. \n
- Knowledge of HMO licensing regulations and management standards. \n
- Experience applying HHSRS assessments in residential properties. \n
- Excellent investigative and problem-solving skills. \n
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities. \n
- Ability to manage a varied caseload and work independently. \n
- Competent report writing and case management skills. \n
