Head of Technical & Facilities Midlands Arts Centre (MAC) is an exciting arts centre offering free exhibitions, theatre, music, cinema and comedy, alongside creative learning and participation activities. We're recruiting a Head of Technical & Facilities to lead our Technical Resources department.About the Role You'll be responsible for developing and delivering technical and facilities services across MAC. Working closely with the Deputy CEO & Director of Commercial & Operations, you'll lead the Technical & Facilities team, ensuring high standards of technical delivery, maintenance and compliance. - Lead planning and delivery of technical resources across MAC's artistic programme, commercial hires and events \n
- Collaborate with Programming teams, artists and hirers to assess technical feasibility and allocate resources \n
- Maintain high standards of technical operation, production delivery and customer service \n
- Oversee maintenance, statutory testing and lifecycle planning of technical equipment \n

- Ensure MAC's buildings, infrastructure and facilities are maintained to a high standard, safe and compliant \n
- Manage planned and reactive maintenance, servicing and statutory compliance for all building systems \n
- Oversee cleaning and waste management services, maintaining high standards across public and staff areas \n
- Lead operational management of building security, fire safety systems and emergency procedures \n
- Work with Heads of IT and Customer Services on CCTV, access control and physical security \n
- Support asset replacement planning and long-term estate planning with the Deputy CEO \n
- Lead planning and delivery of refurbishment, exhibition installation and capital projects \n

- Lead operational delivery of MAC's environmental and sustainability objectives \n
- Chair the Green Champions Group, supporting the Environmental Action Plan \n
- Monitor building performance, energy consumption and identify efficiency improvements \n
- Oversee the Building Management System to optimise building performance \n
- \n
- Lead, develop and support the Technical & Facilities team \n
- Recruit, train and coach staff to meet operational needs \n
- Promote a collaborative, customer-focused approach \n
- \n
- Support health and safety, fire safety and venue safety arrangements \n
- Maintain departmental procedures, risk assessments and safe systems of work \n
- Ensure staff are trained, competent and supported \n
- Support compliance with public protection legislation, including Martyn's Law \n
- Ensure appropriate maintenance and statutory compliance for all equipment \n

- Prepare and manage the Technical & Facilities budget \n
- Monitor departmental financial performance and variances \n
- Manage maintenance expenditure and service contracts \n
- \n
- Relevant qualification in facilities, engineering, technical theatre, building services or management (or equivalent professional experience) with IOSH Managing Safely (or willingness to obtain) \n
- Significant experience managing facilities, technical services or building operations in a public-facing venue \n
- Strong knowledge of health and safety, building compliance, fire safety, security, emergency planning, CDM regulations and Martyn's Law \n
- Experience leading budgets, projects and teams to deliver safe, effective operations \n
- Understanding of technical production requirements for performances, exhibitions and events \n
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills \n
- Collaborative, adaptable, solution-focused with commitment to inclusion, sustainability and continuous improvement \n
- Flexibility to support keyholder duties and occasional evening/weekend working \n
- \n
- NEBOSH, First Aid at Work or Personal Licence Holder qualification \n
- Experience in arts, cultural, entertainment or visitor venue environments \n
- Experience supporting major capital projects \n
- Knowledge of physical security systems (CCTV, access control) \n
- Understanding of accessibility requirements for cultural venues \n
- Knowledge of sustainable venue operations and Theatre Green Book principles \n
- Strong written communication skills \n
