Finance Manager

Stevenage | £55,000–£60,000 DOE | Permanent, full time

Minimum four days in the office, with one day from home once established

The Animal People Recruitment Company is partnering with a successful, entrepreneurial consumer-products business to recruit an experienced Finance Manager.

This is an exciting opportunity to become the senior finance lead within a growing, owner-managed group operating across manufacturing, international trading, e-commerce, consumer brands and property.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director and leading a small finance team, you will take ownership of the finance function while providing the commercial insight needed to support continued growth.

• Producing monthly management accounts

• Managing P&L, balance sheet and cash-flow reporting
\n
• Maintaining a rolling 12-week cash-flow forecast
\n
• Managing working capital, debtors, creditors and stock
\n
• Leading budgets, forecasts and variance analysis
\n
• Providing commercial analysis and decision support
\n
• Reviewing profitability across products, customers and suppliers
\n
• Supporting pricing, promotions and supplier negotiations
\n
• Improving manufacturing margins and stock management
\n
• Strengthening financial controls, systems and processes
\n
• Managing VAT, PAYE, Corporation Tax and statutory requirements
\n
• Leading and developing the existing finance team
\n
• Working directly with the Managing Director and external advisers
\n

• Previous experience as a Finance Manager, Financial Controller, Senior Management Accountant or similar
\n
• Strong management accounts, cash-flow and working-capital experience
\n
• Commercially minded, with the ability to turn figures into clear recommendations
\n
• Comfortable working directly with an MD or business owner
\n
• Experience managing or developing a small finance team
\n
• Hands-on and willing to work within the detail
\n
• Strong Excel and finance systems skills
\n
• A realistic commute to Stevenage
\n

Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, consumer goods, retail, wholesale, distribution, e-commerce, cosmetics, pet care or another stock-led business would be beneficial.

Qualified, part-qualified and qualified-by-experience candidates will all be considered, provided they have the necessary practical finance experience and commercial capability.

The role requires a minimum of four days each week in the Stevenage office. The successful candidate can work from home one day per week once established, or remain fully office-based if preferred.
