School Business Manager

Your new companyHays Education are working in partnership with a welcoming and well-established school in Wigan to recruit an experienced and motivated School Business Manager to join their leadership team from September.This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled business professional with school-based experience to play a key role in the strategic and operational management of the school. The successful candidate will oversee the school's financial, HR, administrative, premises and compliance functions, ensuring the school operates efficiently and effectively in support of pupils and staff.Your new roleAs School Business Manager, you will work closely with the Headteacher and senior leaders to provide high-quality business support across the school. Key responsibilities will include:

• Leading on the school's financial management, budgeting, forecasting and reporting
\n
• Managing day-to-day finance operations, including payroll oversight and procurement
\n
• Supporting the Headteacher with strategic business planning and resource management
\n
• Overseeing HR administration, recruitment processes and personnel records
\n
• Ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, health and safety regulations, and school policies
\n
• Managing contracts, service level agreements and supplier relationships
\n
• Leading and developing administrative, finance and site teams
\n
• Supporting governors with financial reports and business updates
\n
• Monitoring income streams and identifying opportunities for cost efficiencies
\n

What you'll need to succeed

• Previous experience working as a School Business Manager, Finance Manager or similar role within an educational setting
\n
• Strong understanding of school finance and budget management
\n
• Knowledge of education systems and compliance requirements
\n
• Experience managing staff and operational functions
\n
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
\n
• Proficiency with financial and school management systems
\n
• A proactive and solution-focused approach
\n
