MRK Talent Solutions are proud to be exclusively partnering with a well-established consumer-focused retail business in their search for an Accounts Payable Controller to join them on a temporary basis in Dunstable.

This job would suit an experienced Accounts Payable professional who is available immediately to support the finance team during a busy period. The role is expected to run throughout August, with the potential to extend into September (approximately 4–6 weeks), and will be based in the office five days a week. You will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day accounts payable function, ensuring invoices and supplier payments are processed accurately and efficiently whilst assisting with month-end activities.

Our client is a successful, well-established local business and they have built an excellent reputation within their sector.

The successful individual will be a self-starter with ideally at least two years' experience working within an accounts payable environment. You will have excellent attention to detail, strong organisational skills and be confident posting journals and accruals. You will be comfortable managing multiple priorities, communicating with internal and external stakeholders, and maintaining a high level of accuracy throughout. A proactive approach and the ability to hit the ground running will be key to succeeding in this role.

Responsibilities include:

• Postal receipt of statements and invoices, including date stamping and sorting.

• Process invoices and credit notes onto the general ledger.

• Distribute invoices for relevant approval.

• Raise and issue purchase orders.

• Complete supplier statement reconciliations.

• Maintain supplier records, including updated bank details and change of address information.

• Prepare weekly and monthly payment runs.

• Post payments onto the ledger, including Direct Debits and Standing Orders.

• Liaise with internal departments and external suppliers to resolve queries.

• Carry out any additional ad hoc duties as required.
