Role Type: Permanent

Salary: Competitive + Shift Allowance + Overtime

Shift Pattern: 4 on 4 off

Location: Gloucestershire

We are currently recruiting for a Electrical Maintenance Engineer on behalf of our client, a leading manufacturing operation based in Gloucestershire.

\n

This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified electrical engineer looking to join a well-established manufacturing site where you'll play a key role in maintaining critical production equipment, maximising plant reliability and supporting continuous improvement across a fast-paced process environment.

\n

What you'll be doing:

\n
    \n
  • Providing electrical maintenance and breakdown support across the mill.
  • \n
  • Diagnosing electrical equipment failures and carrying out repairs safely and efficiently.
  • \n
  • Identifying root causes of equipment failures and implementing corrective actions to improve reliability.
  • \n
  • Following up on shift reports, SAP work orders and inspection reports.
  • \n
  • Completing planned preventative maintenance activities and feeding back completed work through the SAP maintenance management system.
  • \n
  • Locating, issuing and returning spare parts through the maintenance stores system.
  • \n
  • Working within Electrical and Mechanical Safe Systems of Work, issuing permits and certificates where required.
  • \n
  • Supporting engineering plant modifications through the Management of Change (MOC) process.
  • \n
  • Liaising with engineering and production teams to resolve long-term reliability issues.
  • \n
  • Carrying out a wide range of electrical maintenance activities including: \n
      \n
    • Motor brush replacement and set-up.
    • \n
    • Investigation and rectification of electrical faults.
    • \n
    • Repair, overhaul and testing of AC and DC motors.
    • \n
    • Bearing, coupling and brush replacement on electrical rotating equipment.
    • \n
    • Installation, maintenance and testing of lighting systems.
    • \n
    • Fault finding and repair of portable electrical equipment.
    • \n
    • Diagnosis and rectification of faults such as short circuits, overheating and equipment malfunction.
    • \n
    • Maintenance, repair and testing of medium and low voltage power distribution systems.
    • \n
    • Working on diesel engine starters, generators and automatic control systems.
    • \n
    • Servicing and repairing electrical systems used on cranes, lifts and lifting equipment.
    • \n
    • Maintenance of circuit breakers, contactors and protective devices.
    • \n
    • Alignment and adjustment of electrical rotating machinery and drive systems.
    • \n
    • Fault finding and repair of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
    • \n
    • Maintenance of overhead travelling cranes, compressors and ancillary plant equipment.
    • \n
  • \n
  • Maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance at all times.
  • \n

What we need from you:

\n
    \n
  • Recognised Electrical Engineering qualification.
  • \n
  • Time-served apprenticeship or equivalent electrical maintenance background.
  • \n
  • Knowledge of the 17th Edition IEE Regulations (18th Edition advantageous).
  • \n
  • Previous experience within a heavy industrial, manufacturing, process or continuous production environment.
  • \n
  • Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
  • \n
  • Experience working with: \n
      \n
    • AC and DC motors.
    • \n
    • Motor control systems.
    • \n
    • PLC-controlled equipment.
    • \n
    • Variable speed drives and modern drive technologies.
    • \n
    • Instrumentation and control systems.
    • \n
    • Low and medium voltage electrical systems.
    • \n
  • \n
  • Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
  • \n
  • Experience using CMMS systems, ideally SAP.
  • \n
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe systems of work.
  • \n
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • \n
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with production and engineering teams.
  • \n
  • Flexible, self-motivated and proactive approach to maintenance activities.
  • \n
  • Experience within paper, pulp, FMCG, manufacturing, chemical or other process industries would be advantageous.
  • \n
