Day-to-day of the role:

\n
    \n
  • Lead and manage the purchasing, supply chain, and subcontract procurement functions, ensuring alignment with overall business objectives.
  • \n
  • Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships to achieve optimal quality, cost, delivery, and service performance.
  • \n
  • Oversee supply chain operations, monitoring KPIs and implementing improvements to drive efficiency, productivity, and performance.
  • \n
  • Set departmental strategy, goals, and priorities, ensuring effective planning, resource allocation, and project delivery.
  • \n
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives, embedding processes and best practices across the supply chain function.
  • \n
  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team through performance management, recruitment, training, and succession planning.
  • \n
  • Collaborate closely with operational and commercial teams to support business growth and customer requirements.
  • \n
  • Identify risks and challenges proactively, presenting practical, commercially focused solutions and recommendations.
  • \n

Required Skills & Qualifications:

\n
    \n
  • Proven leadership experience within purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management in a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • \n
  • Strong track record of managing supplier performance, cost control, and operational improvement initiatives.
  • \n
  • Experience leading and developing teams, with excellent people management and communication skills.
  • \n
  • Demonstrable success in project planning, implementation, and delivering business improvements.
  • \n
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities with a commercial mindset.
  • \n
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • \n
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems and advanced Microsoft Office applications.
  • \n
  • CIPS qualification or equivalent professional procurement qualification is desirable.
  • \n
