Magnus Search are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer, to join a rapidly expanding international company based in Exeter. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative products from concept through to manufacture within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.

This role is a Full Time Permanent position, where you will work Monday – Friday 8:30am – 05:00pm. Working within the design team, you will be responsible for the design, engineering, and specification of both new and existing products. You will play a key role in ensuring designs are optimised for manufacture, cost-efficiency, and performance while delivering projects on time and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

· Collaborate with the Technical Engineering Manager and Design & Development team to take products from concept to production-ready designs

· Produce detailed engineering drawings for manufacture

· Optimise existing designs to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and maintain quality

· Advise on manufacturing methods, considering both in-house and external capabilities

· Perform tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure product functionality and manufacturability

· Work closely with Development, Production Engineering, and Purchasing teams to ensure design for manufacture

About You

· Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience

· Proven experience in product development from prototype to mass production

· Strong knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes (folding, welding)

· Experience in design for manufacture (DFM)

· Skilled in DFMEA and tolerance analysis

· Proficient in Solid Edge (or similar CAD software)

· Ability to produce 2D drawings to GD&T standards

· Familiarity with ISO9001:2015 environments
