\nMagnus Search are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer, to join a rapidly expanding international company based in Exeter. This is an exciting opportunity to work on innovative products from concept through to manufacture within a collaborative and forward-thinking environment.
\nThis role is a Full Time Permanent position, where you will work Monday – Friday 8:30am – 05:00pm. \nWorking within the design team, you will be responsible for the design, engineering, and specification of both new and existing products. You will play a key role in ensuring designs are optimised for manufacture, cost-efficiency, and performance while delivering projects on time and to a high standard.
\nKey Responsibilities
\n· Collaborate with the Technical Engineering Manager and Design & Development team to take products from concept to production-ready designs
\n· Produce detailed engineering drawings for manufacture
\n· Optimise existing designs to reduce costs, improve efficiency, and maintain quality
\n· Advise on manufacturing methods, considering both in-house and external capabilities
\n· Perform tolerance stack-up analysis to ensure product functionality and manufacturability
\n· Work closely with Development, Production Engineering, and Purchasing teams to ensure design for manufacture
\nAbout You
\n· Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent practical experience
\n· Proven experience in product development from prototype to mass production
\n· Strong knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes (folding, welding)
\n· Experience in design for manufacture (DFM)
\n· Skilled in DFMEA and tolerance analysis
\n· Proficient in Solid Edge (or similar CAD software)
\n· Ability to produce 2D drawings to GD&T standards
\n· Familiarity with ISO9001:2015 environments
