Special Education Teacher | Oneida, Tennessee

Take on a rewarding contract opportunity supporting middle school students as a Special Education Teacher. This position begins as soon as possible or in early August (aligned with the start of the school year) and continues through late May. You’ll help deliver targeted academic interventions in reading and math, and collaborate with general education teachers to foster inclusive learning for students with a variety of disabilities, including Specific Learning Disabilities, Other Health Impairments, and Language Impairments.

The ideal candidate brings a passion for educational equity along with expertise in specialized instruction and co-teaching. Caseloads will range from 12 to 22 students, depending on staffing levels, ensuring you can genuinely connect with and support each student’s unique needs.

Qualifications:

• Active Tennessee Special Education Teaching Certification (accepting 144, 145, or 461 credentials)
• Experience (or strong interest) in working with middle school learners
• Background in delivering academic interventions and collaborative teaching
• Strong organizational skills to manage IEP documentation and progress monitoring

Responsibilities:

• Provide specially designed instruction in reading and math
• Co-teach in general education classrooms to support diverse learners
• Customize lesson plans and materials based on individual student needs
• Maintain accurate student records and ensure compliance with IEPs
• Communicate regularly with staff, families, and service providers
