Crisis Mental Health Clinician

Location: Columbus, GA
Job Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Monday-Thursday | 10:00 AM - 8:00 PM
Setting: Outpatient Community Mental Health

Position Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Crisis Mental Health Clinician to join a collaborative behavioral health crisis response team. In this role, you will work alongside first responders to provide on-site crisis intervention, mental health assessments, de-escalation, safety planning, and referrals to appropriate community resources. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by connecting individuals in crisis with the care and support they need.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to behavioral health crisis calls with police, fire, and EMS personnel.

  • Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and determine appropriate interventions.

  • Provide crisis intervention, de-escalation, safety planning, and short-term case management.

  • Connect individuals with mental health, substance use, and community support services, including emergency evaluations when appropriate.

  • Collaborate with emergency responders to reduce unnecessary hospitalizations and incarcerations.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and clinical records.

Qualifications

Required

  • Master's degree in Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, or a related field.

  • Active LCSW, LPC, LMHC, or equivalent state licensure.

  • 1-2 years of experience in crisis intervention, emergency psychiatric services, community mental health, mobile crisis, or behavioral health.

  • Strong knowledge of trauma-informed care, crisis intervention, and de-escalation techniques.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.

  • Valid driver's license with the ability to travel locally.

Preferred

  • Experience working alongside law enforcement, EMS, fire departments, or co-response crisis teams.

  • Training in Crisis Intervention Team (CIT), Motivational Interviewing, or Mental Health First Aid.

  • Knowledge of local behavioral health and community resources.
