Employment Type: Temp-to-Hire
Pay Rate: $25-$32/hour DOE
A well-established professional services firm in Pasadena is seeking a detail-oriented Payroll Assistant to join their growing payroll team. This position will support the processing of payroll for 8,000+ multi-state employees across the U.S. The ideal candidate is organized, deadline-driven, and thrives in a high-volume environment where accuracy and customer service are key.

This position will support the processing of payroll for 8,000+ multi-state employees across the U.S. The ideal candidate is organized, deadline-driven, and thrives in a high-volume environment where accuracy and customer service are key.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with processing bi-weekly and semi-monthly payroll for 8,000+ employees across multiple states.
- Review and audit payroll data for accuracy, including hours worked, earnings, deductions, garnishments, and tax withholdings.
- Support payroll specialists with payroll preparation, validation, and reconciliation activities.
- Enter and maintain employee payroll information within the payroll system.
- Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries.
- Assist with multi-state payroll tax compliance and reporting requirements.
- Process employment verifications, wage garnishments, and direct deposit updates.
- Generate payroll reports and assist with audits as needed.
- Maintain confidential employee information and ensure compliance with company policies and payroll regulations.
- Collaborate with HR, Benefits, and Finance teams to ensure accurate employee records and payroll processing.
- 1+ years of payroll, payroll support, accounting, HR, or related administrative experience.
- Experience supporting high-volume payroll processing preferred.
- Familiarity with multi-state payroll practices is highly desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including sorting, filtering, and basic formulas.
- Experience with ADP, Workday, UKG, Ceridian, or other payroll systems is a plus.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
