Job Summary
A mission-driven organization in Ventura, CA is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager for a direct hire opportunity supporting affordable housing development, construction accounting, and nonprofit corporate accounting operations. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys overseeing complex project accounting, improving processes, mentoring staff, and partnering closely with executive finance leadership.
The Accounting Manager will work in a collaborative, team-oriented environment where accounting plays a key role in supporting high-quality residential communities and long-term organizational stability. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, review, train, and support Development and Corporate Staff Accountants while providing day-to-day accounting leadership.
- Oversee full-cycle accounting for affordable housing development projects, construction activities, and nonprofit corporate operations.
- Manage job cost accounting, project budgets, funding source tracking, construction draws, bank draws, and draw request processing.
- Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, and variance reporting.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, organizational policies, lender requirements, grant regulations, restricted fund requirements, and other funding guidelines.
- Coordinate audit support, tax preparation, Form 1099 reporting, compliance reviews, internal controls, financial systems, and process improvement initiatives.
Compensation and Benefits
- Direct hire opportunity.
- Salary range: $95,000 to $105,000 per year.
- Full-time, exempt position.
- Location: Corporate office in Ventura, CA.
