Job Summary

The role involves evaluating and implementing medically prescribed physical therapy treatment plans aimed at addressing movement dysfunction and alleviating pain caused by injuries, illnesses, disabilities, or other health-related issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial and ongoing assessments of patients' conditions.
  • Develop, modify, and assess care plans tailored to identified issues, involving patients and their families in the process.
  • Administer therapy interventions using standard physical therapy techniques appropriate for each patient's condition.
  • Educate patients, families, and staff by identifying educational needs.
  • Ensure continuity of care by participating in discharge planning, providing home instructions, recommending equipment or modifications, and suggesting follow-up care as necessary.
  • Supervise the activities of physical therapy assistants, students, and other support staff.
  • Maintain accurate documentation detailing patient responses to therapy and the necessity for skilled intervention as required by regulatory standards.
  • Work in a consistently alert and safe manner.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Education: A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy or a related field necessary for obtaining licensure in the state of practice.
  • Experience: No prior experience is required.
Physical Requirements
  • Constantly standing, with frequent lifting, carrying, and pushing/pulling objects weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Regular use of hearing and speech for effective communication.
  • Frequent visual tasks for both near (20 inches or less) and far (20 feet or more) distances.
  • Regular walking, reaching, gripping, and data entry tasks.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, sitting, squatting, twisting, and repetitive movements of the legs and arms.
  • Occasional lifting/moving of patients and objects weighing between 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional driving and rare crawling.
Licensure and Certifications
  • Resuscitation Certification: Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) certification is required within 90 days of employment. Additional resuscitation certifications may be necessary based on departmental needs.
  • State Licensure:
    • Illinois: Licensed Physical Therapist - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR)
    • Missouri: Licensed Physical Therapist - Missouri Division of Professional Registration
    • Oklahoma: Licensed Physical Therapist - Oklahoma Medical Board
    • Wisconsin: Licensed Physical Therapist (PT) - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services
