Fort Cavazos is situated in the picturesque 'hill and lake' region of Central Texas, nestled between Killeen and Copperas Cove. It is approximately 60 miles north of Austin, 50 miles south of Waco, 160 miles south of Dallas, and 150 miles north of San Antonio.

Established in 1942, this expansive 340-square-mile military installation serves as the Army's primary site for training and deploying heavy forces.

Covering 214,968 acres, Fort Cavazos stands as the largest active-duty armored post within the U.S. Armed Forces and is uniquely equipped to station and train two Armored Divisions.

• Provide leadership and technical guidance to the staff at the MEB Outpatient Clinic.
• Conduct thorough reviews of medical records, interpret diagnostic tests and x-rays, and utilize sound clinical judgment to arrange for additional medical specialty consultations.
• Compose detailed narrative summaries incorporating consultant insights and opinions as necessary.
• Evaluate community and patient population needs, mission requirements, and available resources to plan and deliver a comprehensive range of outpatient and inpatient services.
• Collaborate with other physicians (such as family practitioners and general psychiatrists) to assess and reconcile conflicting medical evidence in challenging and complex cases.

PERFORM OTHER ASSIGNED DUTIES AS REQUIRED.

• Appointment may be contingent upon a suitability or fitness assessment following a completed background investigation.
• A Personnel Security Investigation is mandatory.
• Selected candidates may need to sign a statement (Condition of Employment) agreeing to seasonal influenza vaccinations or provide a recognized exemption.
• This role is classified as a Testing Designated Position, requiring pre-employment screening and random drug testing. Selected individuals must consent to participate in random drug urinalysis.
• A pre-placement medical examination may be necessary.
• Immunization screening may be required, with Hepatitis B vaccination mandatory for all positions involving direct patient contact. Proof of other immunizations may also be required based on the specific role.
• Maintaining current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Red Cross or American Heart Association may be necessary. Advanced certifications (e.g., ALS) do not replace BLS.
• A valid stateside driver's license may be required.
• Candidates must meet credentialing standards and secure appropriate clinical privileges.
• This position may necessitate tuberculosis testing.

Basic Requirement for Supervisory Physician (Medical Evaluation Board):

Degree: A Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from an accredited institution in the United States or Canada. This degree must have been accredited by recognized bodies such as the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association or the Liaison Committee on Medical Education. For degrees from foreign medical schools, education and medical knowledge must be equivalent to accredited U.S. institutions, demonstrated by permanent certification from the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.

Licensure: Candidates must hold a current, active, unrestricted license or registration as a Physician from a U.S. state, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or a U.S. territory.

Graduate Training: Following the attainment of a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree, candidates must have at least one year of supervised clinical experience, such as a one-year internship or the first year of a residency program in an accredited hospital or institution.

In addition to the basic requirements, candidates must also meet the following qualifications:

Experience/Training: A minimum of five years of graduate training in the relevant specialty or equivalent experience and training is required.

A salary quote will not be provided at the time of the initial job offer. The salary determination process will commence after the initial offer is accepted, involving the Activity Compensation Panel to establish base pay and market pay. This information will be shared once approved.

Physician salaries are tiered based on specialty, grade, and location. This announcement may be utilized to fill positions across the following tiers:

• Tier 1: $121,020 - $300,000
• Tier 2: $145,000 - $320,000
• Tier 3: $165,000 - $336,000
