PRINCIPAL CRAFT TECHNICIAN - SR. CRAFT TECHNICIAN - AC Service Technician 42-00638 Who We Are: The HVAC Shop plays a critical role in maintaining a comfortable and efficient campus environment. We are the backbone of campus climate control, ensuring that all HVAC systems are operating at peak performance. Our responsibilities include preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs for HVAC equipment across campus. Objectives of this Role: Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning coils, inspecting equipment, and identifying potential issues to ensure all HVAC systems run optimally. Diagnose and resolve basic HVAC problems to maintain safe and efficient operations. Repair or replace A/C and heating equipment as needed to minimize downtime. Transport HVAC tools, equipment, and supplies to and from job sites efficiently and securely. Strictly adhere to all safety guidelines and protocols, completing safety checklists as required to promote a safe working environment. Daily and Monthly Responsibilities: Conduct monthly system evaluations, prevent issues through routine checks, and interpret schematics, manuals, and blueprints for troubleshooting. Skillfully handle varied daily requests over our maintenance management software. Maintain responsive communication with requestors, supervisors, coworkers, and project engineers. Proactively identify and resolve HVAC system issues, with minimal to no supervision, ensuring continuous system functionality. Perform physically demanding activities such as lifting heavy equipment, working in confined spaces, and completing various manual labor tasks as required. Demonstrate adaptability by executing a wide range of tasks daily, utilizing personal computers for diagnostics, reporting, and documentation. Requirements: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. EPA Certification (or ability to obtain certification within 6 months). Shift work required. 5-15 years: Demonstrated experience with all types of HVAC systems, including installation, operation, maintenance, and repair. 5-15 years: Comprehensive understanding of HVAC components such as compressors, condensers, heating elements, refrigeration cycles, and ductwork. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot system inefficiencies, implement repairs, and ensure optimal performance. 5-15 years: Practical experience using a variety of hand and power tools to complete HVAC tasks efficiently and safely. Ability to select the appropriate tools for tasks such as coil cleaning, compressor adjustments, bolt tightening, and system diagnostics. 5-15 years: Strong history of working in a professional or commercial setting, such as campuses, large facilities, or corporate environments, where effective communication and collaboration with coworkers and supervisors is key. A valid/clear driver's license is required.
