The intern assists with new hire documentation, orientation preparation, HR systems, personnel records, compliance activities, recruitment support, and special projects while gaining practical experience in Human Resources within a nonprofit environment. Currently pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Organizational Leadership, or a related field. Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Ability to learn Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS). RESPONSIBILITES: Onboarding Coordinate pre-employment onboarding activities for new hires. Send electronic onboarding invitations and monitor completion. Review onboarding paperwork for accuracy and completeness. Assist with I-9 verification and employment eligibility documentation. Collect required employment documents including tax forms, direct deposit information, licenses, certifications, and identification. Coordinate background checks, drug screenings, and other preemployment requirements. Schedule and prepare materials for New Hire Orientation. Create and maintain compliant electronic personnel files. Communicate onboarding progress with hiring managers. Welcome new employees and assist with creating a positive first-day experience. Human Resources Administration Maintain confidential employee records. Enter and update employee information in the HRIS. Scan, file, and organize personnel documentation. Assist with employment verification requests. Prepare HR letters, forms, and reports. Support HR compliance activities and internal audits. Respond to routine employee questions and direct inquiries appropriately. Recruitment Support Assist with scheduling interviews. Coordinate candidate communications. Maintain applicant tracking records. Assist with job fairs and recruiting events. Support employment branding initiatives. HR Projects Assist with employee engagement initiatives. Support training and development activities. Research HR best practices. Participate in process improvement projects. Perform other duties as assigned.
