Associate Veterinarian
Location: Edgewood, NM
Job Type: Full-Time (In-Person)
Schedule:
Four (4) 10-hour weekday shifts
Rotating Saturday coverage
Occasional weekend urgent care shifts with fewer weekday shifts to maintain work-life balance
Flexible scheduling available
Practice Setting
Privately owned small animal hospital
Outpatient and inpatient care
Collaborative team environment with experienced veterinarians, six Registered Veterinary Technicians (RVTs), and dedicated support staff
Patient Population
Approximately 70% Dogs
Approximately 25% Cats
Approximately 5% Exotic/Other companion animals (optional based on provider interest)
Patients of all life stages, from puppies and kittens to geriatric pets
Patient Volume
Established practice with a loyal client base
Diverse daily caseload including wellness visits, preventive care, sick visits, surgeries, dentistry, and urgent care cases
Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate Associate Veterinarian to join a well-established private small animal practice. This opportunity is ideal for both experienced veterinarians and new graduates looking for strong mentorship in a collaborative environment. The practice emphasizes high-quality medicine, excellent client communication, and a healthy work-life balance.
Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive physical examinations.
Diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical conditions.
Develop individualized treatment plans.
Perform routine soft tissue surgeries and dentistry.
Interpret laboratory and diagnostic imaging results.
Administer vaccinations and preventive care.
Educate clients regarding treatment plans, nutrition, and preventive healthcare.
Maintain accurate medical records.
Collaborate with veterinarians, RVTs, and support staff to provide exceptional patient care.
Participate in urgent care cases as scheduled.
Qualifications
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree required.
Eligible for or licensed to practice in New Mexico.
