Chief of Radiology/Imaging Leadership Opportunity at VA Portland Health Care System

Our organization is on the lookout for a skilled and proactive leader to fill the role of Chief of Radiology/Imaging at our Portland, Oregon facility. This position involves close collaboration with the Imaging Administrative Officer and the Chief Technologist to create a cohesive Imaging management team responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of the service. This leadership group is dedicated to delivering top-notch Radiology services to Veterans, establishing local policies for effective service provision, managing the budget, and supervising staff. Key focus areas include service quality, safety, accessibility, innovation, and efficient care delivery.

Our facility is a 1A complex tertiary care center that caters to 95,000 Veterans in northwest and central Oregon. In partnership with a prominent health sciences university, we host approximately 2,000 health professional learners each year and rank among the top 10 nationwide in research grant support. With over 170 researchers, more than $41 million in grant funding, and over 500 active research protocols, we are recognized for our exceptional lung cancer screening, kidney, and liver transplant programs.

The Imaging Service offers a wide range of services, including CT, MRI, ultrasound, fluoroscopy, nuclear medicine with PET/SPECT CT, conventional x-rays, special procedures, Interventional Radiology, and Neuroradiology, primarily at our Portland campus. Our Vancouver, WA campus provides general x-ray, MRI, CT, fluoroscopy, and ultrasound services. The Imaging Service is a national frontrunner in adopting advanced technologies and procedures, such as Spectral CT, Digital PET CT, 4D CT Angio, and artificial intelligence.

We are seeking a physician leader with a robust clinical, administrative, and academic background to manage daily operations, sustain clinical activities, and collaborate on educational and research projects with our academic partner. The ideal candidate will exhibit strong coordination skills across a diverse range of programs and excel in interdisciplinary collaboration. A passion for fostering ongoing research, inter-professional training, and professional development is essential.

Work Schedule

Full-time, Monday through Friday.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Possess a current, full, and unrestricted medical or surgical license to practice in the U.S.
• Board Certification in Radiology is required.
