Role: Payroll Specialist
Pay: $20.00/hour
Assignment: Contract
Location: Decatur, IL
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
What you'll do:
•Process U.S. and Canadian payroll accurately and on time.
•Investigate and resolve payroll processing issues and discrepancies.
•Exercise discretion and sound judgment to ensure payroll compliance and excellent customer service.
•Communicate with local management teams to support accurate payroll processing.
•Identify opportunities for process and system improvements with a continuous improvement mindset.
•Complete and balance payroll reconciliations accurately and within designated deadlines.
•Prepare and process payroll tax forms including Form 941, W-2, T4, and other required tax documentation for ADM subsidiaries.
•Maintain payroll data securely and in compliance with company policies.
•Create and maintain accurate payroll process documentation, including manuals and SOPs.
•Provide timely, professional, and accurate payroll guidance and support to employees.
•Serve as a backup processor for U.S. and Canadian non-exempt payrolls.
•Collaborate with management and cross-functional teams to deliver exceptional customer service.
•Support management metrics and special projects as assigned.
Requirements:
•Minimum of 3 years of general office or accounting experience; payroll experience preferred.
•Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•Intermediate understanding of accounting principles and mathematical procedures.
•Ability to work independently and effectively within a team environment.
•Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve discrepancies.
•Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
•Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
•Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
•Customer-focused with a commitment to professionalism and confidentiality.
•Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
•Continuous improvement mindset with a willingness to innovate processes.
•Experience with IBM (CICS & IMS) and MDM systems is preferred.
•Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
•Ability to communicate clearly in person, by phone, and in writing.
•Ability to perform physical activities including standing, sitting for extended periods, filing, bending, and frequent telephone use.
•Must successfully complete a background check.
