Data Platform Engineer

We're looking for an experienced Data Platform Engineer to join a major transformation programme within a large enterprise technology environment. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the development, operation and optimisation of a modern cloud-based data platform, supporting critical business initiatives and delivering scalable data capabilities.The Role As a Data Platform Engineer, you'll work alongside Data Architects, Data Engineers and other technical specialists to support the ongoing evolution of a cloud data platform built on Microsoft technologies. You'll be responsible for ensuring platform reliability, performance and scalability while contributing to the delivery of strategic data projects.Key Responsibilities:Develop, maintain and optimise cloud data platform capabilitiesManage platform performance, capacity and availabilityInvestigate, troubleshoot and resolve platform incidents and service issuesConduct root cause analysis and implement preventative measuresSupport the delivery of scalable data solutions across Azure and Microsoft FabricImplement Platform as Code and DataOps best practicesMonitor platform health and respond proactively to operational issuesSupport analytical workloads and business adoption through Power BICollaborate closely with engineering, architecture and platform teamsContribute to continuous improvement of processes, standards and proceduresSkills & Experience RequiredPrevious experience in a Data Platform Engineer, Cloud Engineer or similar roleStrong experience supporting and operating cloud-based data platformsCommercial experience with Microsoft Fabric and/or Azure data servicesSQL Server administration and management experienceExperience handling incidents, problem management and change requests within SLA-driven environmentsStrong troubleshooting and analytical skillsAbility to work effectively in complex and fast-paced environmentsExcellent communication and stakeholder engagement skillsDesirableGitHub and GitHub ActionsTerraform and Infrastructure/Platform as CodeCloud monitoring and observability toolingAlerting and operational monitoring platformsCloud cost management and optimisationZero Trust architecture experienceHays Specialist Recruitment Limited acts as an employment agency for permanent recruitment and employment business for the supply of temporary workers.
