Mechanical Design EngineerSutton in Ashfield£35,000 - £40,000Monday - Thursday 07:00 - 16:15, and Friday 07:00 - 12:30.We are looking for a Mechanical Designer to join our mechanical design and development team.This role combines technical and product development. You will be joining a team of Development Engineers and Design/Project Engineers while driving the design, development and continuous improvement of our product range.Working closely with Production Management and colleagues across sales, manufacturing, electrical engineering and marketing, you will play a key role in delivering innovative, commercially viable products and bringing new ideas to market.Mechanical Design Engineer Key Responsibilities- Assist the development of new products from concept through to manufacture.- Review existing products and identify opportunities to improve performance, quality, manufacturability and cost.- Work closely with sales teams and customers to develop and prototype new product concepts.- Manage design projects, ensuring delivery to agreed timescales and budgets.- Preparation of engineering calculations, specifications and technical documentation.- Ensure products comply with relevant legislation, standards and quality requirements.- Support technical submissions, customer enquiries and sales activities when required.- Work collaboratively with manufacturing and electrical engineering teams to deliver practical and cost-effective solutions.- Monitor developments in relevant technologies and materials and assess their suitability for future products.Mechanical Design Engineer About YouYou will have a strong mechanical engineering background and experience within a manufacturing or product development environment.You should be able to demonstrate:- Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline (BEng).- Proven experience in a design engineering or engineering management role.- Strong product development and project management skills.- Good understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacture principles.- Ability to balance technical requirements with commercial objectives.- Strong communication skills.- Experience producing and reviewing engineering calculations, specifications and technical documentation.- Knowledge of quality and environmental management systems.- Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems would be advantageous.- Experience with digital engineering tools and capabilities, such as CAD, simulation/FEA,TPBN1_UKTJ
