We make AcuPebble, a wearable device that diagnoses obstructive sleep apnoea at home, without wires, without a hospital visit, and without a clinician scoring the results manually. It is CE-marked, FDA-cleared, recommended by NICE, and already transforming how the NHS diagnoses one of the most under-detected chronic conditions in the world. Nearly a billion people have OSA. Fewer than 20% are ever diagnosed. We are changing that.We are open to candidates at mid or senior level. What we offer in return is genuine autonomy, a small team where your decisions land, and work that has direct clinical impact.The RoleYou will join our Platform Team, reporting to our Platform Team Lead, and work across our entire cloud platform - backend services, APIs, data pipelines, and the clinician-facing web application through which NHS clinicians manage diagnostic pathways, review automated results, and coordinate patient care. This is a genuinely fullstack role: you will move across layers depending on what needs building. You should also be comfortable picking up infrastructure and deployment work as part of a small, high-ownership team.We are looking for someone with at least three years of commercial experience building and shipping fullstack applications in production environments.We are expanding into new markets, building new products, and integrating with health systems across the UK and Europe. The scope here is broad and will grow. We are a small engineering team, which means no one is siloed, no one is just closing tickets, and no one is invisible.You will report to our Platform Team Lead, who reports directly to leadership. We are a flat team. If you have an opinion, it will be heard.What You Will Work OnOur cloud platform - the backend services, APIs, and data pipelines that power end-to-end diagnostic pathways running at national scale across NHS TrustsThe clinician-facing web application through which NHS clinicians manage OSA pathways, review results, and coordinate patient careIntegrations with NHS systems, electronic health records, and third-party clinical platformsNew products and features as we expand into paediatric diagnostics, new respiratory conditions, and international marketsRESTful and GraphQL APIs, microservices architecture, and event-driven messaging systemsInfrastructure, deployment, and on-call support as needed - this is a small team and the role is not limited to product work aloneSoftware development under IEC 62304 - you will learn what it means to build software that is part of a regulated medical device, and it will make you a more rigorous engineerWho We Are Looking ForWe are not looking for the most experienced engineer in the room. We are looking for the right one - whether that is someone three years into their career or someone fifteen years in who wants to work somewhere their experience actually shapes things.You will thrive here if:You have solid, hands-on experience with TypeScript and modern JavaScript (ES2016+), and you care about writing code that other people can understand and maintainYou have practical knowledge of React or Next.js and are comfortable working across the stack - front end, back end, APIs, and everything in betweenYou have practical experience applying sound software design principles - you make considered architectural decisions and can justify themYou write tests as a matter of course - Jest or similar - and you care about code quality without needing a long list of specific toolsYou have worked with RESTful APIs and are familiar with GraphQL and asynchronous messaging patternsYou can ramp up quickly in an unfamiliar or lightly-documented codebase, and you are comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy and ambiguityYou have startup or small-team experience, or a clear reason to believe you would thrive in oneYou are not afraid of a regulated environment - if anything, you find it interesting that software can have real clinical consequencesYou are happy to mentor and pair with junior engineers as they grow, and you see that as part of doing good work, not a distraction from itYou are curious, self-directed, and comfortable saying I dont know followed quickly by but Ill find outYou want to stay somewhere long enough to see the things you build actually matterThis role is probably not right for you if:You need a large team around you to feel productiveYou are looking for a role where the scope is narrow and the expectations are fixedYou are primarily motivated by finding the highest-paying position availableWhat We Offer£55,000£65,000 salary, based on experienceFlexible on location - remote, hybrid, or London-based, all within the UK.
