Principal Engineer, PipelinesWorking LocationSouth East EnglandContract Type: PermanentSector: Energy, Onshore and Offshore Pipelines, Carbon CaptureRole OverviewIf you are a Pipelines Engineer ready to provide technical leadership across major onshore and offshore projects from concept selection through FEED, ITT, and execution, this role offers genuine discipline authority and influence.You will join a well-established engineering organisation delivering major energy projects internationally, across greenfield, brownfield, and carbon capture work. Acting as the pipelines design lead on large projects, you will direct a team of engineers and designers and take ownership of the quality of the discipline's output.Why This Role Stands OutPrincipal-level technical leadership of the pipelines disciplineVaried portfolio including greenfield, brownfield, and carbon capture projectsFull lifecycle involvement from concept selection through to executionHybrid working with strong remote flexibilityInternational exposure with short-term visits to sites and offices worldwideKey ResponsibilitiesLead and direct a team of discipline engineers and designers on large projectsPerform design activities for rigid onshore and offshore pipelines across all project phasesSupervise and review philosophies, specifications, routing studies, and mechanical designCheck calculations and analyses including stress, spanning, global buckling, walking, on-bottom roughness, tie-ins, and expansion loopsOversee crossing design, hot tapping, and trenchless work such as HDD and microtunnellingPrepare datasheets and technical requisitions, compile ITTs, and perform bid evaluationsValidate pipeline inspection, maintenance, and emergency repair strategiesCheck third-party design and installation activities during executionVisit manufacturers such as line pipe, coating, and valve suppliers as requiredLiaise closely with process, materials and corrosion, flow assurance, instrumentation, civil, and construction disciplinesRequirementsProfessional experience in oil and gas across rigid onshore and offshore pipelinesMandatory knowledge of pipeline design software such as DNV SESAM pipeline package, PET, AutoPipe, SAGE Profile, and AGAKnowledge of ANSYS, ABAQUS, and OrcaFlex is desirableKnowledge of UK and international codes including BS, DNV, ISO, API, and ASME is desirableProven experience leading and directing discipline engineers and designersStrong planning, organisational, and interpersonal skillsAmbition to develop into a high-level technical expertIdeally degree qualified in Pipeline, Subsea, Offshore, Civil, or Mechanical EngineeringHow to ApplyTo register your interest in this opportunity, please submit your CV or contact details and a consultant will be in touch.TPBN1_UKTJ
