\nLocation: South Somerset (commutable from Yeovil, Chard, Ilminster)
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum
Job Type: Full-time/Part Time (pro rata annual salary), Permanent, Onsite
The Opportunity
\nAn established and growing accountancy practice in South Somerset is seeking an experienced Accounts & Payroll Administrator to join their busy team. Working across a diverse portfolio of clients, you will be responsible for delivering accurate payroll services alongside supporting a range of bookkeeping and accounting activities.
\nThis is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous payroll and accounts experience who enjoys working in a client-focused environment and managing multiple priorities.
\nKey Responsibilities
\nPayroll
\n- \n
- Processing weekly, fortnightly and monthly payrolls for multiple clients across a range of sectors \n
- Ensuring payrolls are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines \n
- Managing payroll starters and leavers \n
- Processing statutory payments including SSP, SMP, SPP and SAP \n
- Administering pension auto-enrolment and pension scheme submissions \n
- Calculating holiday pay, overtime, bonuses and other payroll adjustments \n
- Producing and issuing payslips and payroll reports \n
- Responding to client payroll queries and providing ongoing support \n
- Maintaining employee payroll records in line with current legislation \n
Accounts & Bookkeeping

- Maintaining bookkeeping records for a portfolio of clients \n
- Processing purchase invoices, sales invoices and bank transactions \n
- Performing bank reconciliations \n
- Assisting with VAT return preparation and submission \n
- Supporting the preparation of management accounts \n
- Reconciling balance sheet accounts \n
- Assisting with year-end accounts preparation \n
- Liaising with clients to obtain financial information and documentation \n
- Ensuring client records are maintained accurately and efficiently \n
Person Specification
\nEssential
\n- \n
- Previous experience within a payroll and accounting/bookkeeping position (5 years+) \n
- Knowledge of payroll legislation and pension auto-enrolment \n
- Strong bookkeeping skills including reconciliations and VAT returns \n
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel \n
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills \n
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and client requirements \n
- Strong written and verbal communication skills \n
Desirable
\n- \n
- Experience working within an accountancy practice environment \n
- Knowledge of payroll software such as BrightPay, Sage Payroll or Xero Payroll \n
- Experience using bookkeeping software such as Xero, QuickBooks or Sage \n
- AAT qualification or working towards a finance qualification \n
