Maintenance Technician (Heavy Plant)
Job Description
Summary of Duties:
\nThe role requires keeping equipment and machinery in optimum operational condition. This includes heavy mobile plant; excavators, wheel loaders, balers and other relevant equipment used within the metal recycling industry.
\nKey Responsibilities:
\nThe diagnosis and resolution of breakdown problems
\nTo respond rapidly to breakdowns thereby minimising the period of time any equipment is out of action
\nTo ensure all machinery is maintained to a high standard and capable of operating in line with Company standards
\nTo comply with all machine operating systems
\nTo keep accurate records of all machinery on site
\nTo complete and maintain all documentation on the CMMS
\nTo make written and/or verbal reports to line managers as required
\nTo attend progress meetings with line managers as and when required
\nTo carry out any additional duties that may be reasonably requested from time to time
\nTo comply with Company policies and procedures as defined in the Employee Manual and the post holders terms & particulars of employment

\nProven track record of working in a comparable role
\nThe ability to strip down and rebuild hydraulic, mechanical components on heavy machines
\nAble to understand technical drawings relating to machinery
\nA working knowledge of diesel engine maintenance
\nIT Literate with the ability to use a range of packages applicable to the role
\nDriving license
\nDesirable Skills
\nHNC qualifications in a relevant subject area
\nCapable of the diagnosis of component level hydraulic faults
\nAbility to operate basic machine shop machinery; lathes, milling machines etc.
\nWorking knowledge of 3-phase electrics
\nCompetent in lifting and slinging (as training will be provided)
\nONC level qualifications or equivalent
\nNVQ Level 3 or above in a relevant subject
\nThe ability to work in a clean room environment
\nRelative experience in metal recycling and other associated processes
