SALARY: £32,347 to £34,317 pro rata (Grade 9) (Actual Salary for Part-Time Hours is: £19,408 to £20,590 per annum + Benefits

LOCATION: Chatsworth, Derbyshire, East Midlands

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Contract (Fixed Term - Due to finite funding until 30 July 2027)

WORKING HOURS: 22 hours and 12 minutes per week, Monday to Friday Daytime

JOB OVERVIEW

This is a rewarding opportunity for a SEND Tutor (Supported Internship) to act as tutor and co-ordinator for a supported internship programme for young people with an Educational Health Care Plan.

As a SEND Tutor (Supported Internship), you will support learners to develop the skills, confidence and readiness needed to progress towards paid employment, working closely with partner agencies, families, delivery staff and the host business.

The SEND Tutor (Supported Internship) will also contribute to programme development, teaching and learning improvement, quality assurance, safeguarding, SEND adaptations and the monitoring of learner achievement and progression.

DUTIES

Your duties as the SEND Tutor (Supported Internship) include:

• Programme Delivery: Act as tutor and co-ordinator for the supported internship programme, supporting learners to develop skills for paid employment
\n
• Teaching and Assessment: Undertake teaching and/or assessment as agreed, supporting high-quality learning and learner progression
\n
• Programme Development: Assist with the development and implementation of adult community learning programmes within a defined locality and theme
\n
• Teaching Quality: Support the monitoring and improvement of teaching and learning, including observations and follow-up actions
\n
• SEND Support: Oversee appropriate adaptations for learners with SEND, helping ensure learning is accessible and inclusive
\n
• Partnership Working: Liaise with partner agencies, families, employers, colleagues and other stakeholders to support programme outcomes
\n
• Quality Assurance: Contribute to quality assurance, self-assessment, improvement planning and internal quality processes
\n
• Staff Support: Support tutors and delivery staff through supervision, advice, motivation, training and development support
\n
• Safeguarding: Ensure rigorous adherence to safeguarding and safe learner procedures and protocols
\n

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

\n
• Teaching experience within the post-19 education environment
\n
• Current qualification to teach within the post-16 education sector
\n
• Current assessor award or higher
\n
• Experience of observing learning and teaching
\n
• Experience working in teams to improve achievement and the quality of teaching and learning
\n
• Successful partnership working with agencies and individuals
\n
• Experience of assessment, verification and accreditation of provision
\n
• Experience of subject development and creating effective teaching and learning resources
\n
• Ability to develop and sustain accredited or non-accredited community and workplace-based adult learning programmes
\n
• Good awareness of issues affecting the post-19 education sector
\n
• Good understanding of strategies to improve learner retention, achievement and success
\n
• Good understanding of equality, diversity and inclusion in a learning environment
\n
• Good understanding of health and safety and safeguarding in learning delivery
\n
• Good understanding of quality assurance processes, inspections and audits
\n
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
\n
• Self-motivated and well organised, with excellent time management skills
\n
• Ability to influence, negotiate and work flexibly across service functions
\n
• Ability to travel as required
\n
• Commitment to continual professional development

• Teaching experience within the 16 to 18 education environment

• Experience in recruitment, development and management of staff
\n
• Experience delivering peer-to-peer support and development of others
\n
• Experience of marketing and communications
\n
• Awareness of 16 to 18 and post-19 education sector funding structures and methodology
\n
• IT skills to Level 2
\n
• Good performance management skills
\n
• Occupational competence to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualifications
