HGV Class 1 Driver – Warrington, Cheshire

People Solutions are currently recruiting for an HGV Class 1 Driver to join our well-established client based in Warrington, Cheshire. This is a fantastic opportunity offering up to £22.00 per hour, Monday to Friday working, ongoing assignments, weekly pay, overtime opportunities, immediate starts, paid induction, and genuine long-term opportunities with a leading logistics business.

This role would suit candidates with experience as an HGV Class 1 Driver, LGV Class 1 Driver, CE Driver, Category C+E Driver, Class 1 Driver, Articulated Lorry Driver, Trunk Driver, or Class 1 Tramper Driver.

Shifts

 • Monday to Friday
\n  • AM starts between 04:00 – 06:00
\n  • PM starts between 18:00 – 20:00
\n  • Overtime available

Rates of Pay

 • £19.00 per hour (Days)
\n  • £20.00 per hour (Nights)
\n  • £22.00 per hour (Weekends)
\n  • Weekly pay

Day-to-Day Duties

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, your duties will include:

 • Completing trunking depot-to-depot deliveries with occasional store deliveries
\n  • Operating Category C+E vehicles safely and efficiently
\n  • Carrying out pre- and post-journey vehicle inspections
\n  • Ensuring all loads are secure and compliant with transport regulations
\n  • Adhering to all road traffic legislation and company procedures
\n  • Communicating effectively with the transport office and customers
\n  • Reporting any vehicle defects or maintenance requirements promptly
\n  • Assisting with loading and unloading when required

Essential Skills

As an HGV Class 1 Driver, you will need:

 • A valid UK Category C+E (Class 1) Driving Licence
\n  • A minimum of six months' Category C+E driving experience
\n  • A valid Driver CPC Card and Digital Tachograph Card
\n  • No more than six penalty points for minor offences
\n  • No DR10, DG10, IN10, or TT99 endorsement codes
\n  • Good spoken and written English
\n  • Excellent punctuality and timekeeping
\n  • A good understanding of UK road traffic legislation
\n  • Strong communication skills

Desirable Experience

 • Previous experience driving commercial Category C+E vehicles
\n  • Previous trunking experience would be advantageous
\n  • Previous RDC or store delivery experience would be beneficial

Training Provided

 • Driver assessment required prior to starting
\n  • One-day paid induction following a successful assessment
\n  • Industry-related training and ongoing support throughout your assignment
