Job Description
Summary:
\nAn Estimator, ideally with a mechanical bias, is being sought by a growing contractor, based in Southampton.The position is a permanent role where you will be working from the office based in Ower, Southampton.

\nKey Activities include:
\nTender pricing respond to tender queries, prepare and submit competitive tender packages and quotations with values ranging from £100k to £2m+ in accordance with our clients requirements
\nJob costing calculate the price of time, labour and materials for complex, bespoke contracts
\nManaging and assisting with the preparation of pre-qualification questionnaires for large tenders
\nNegotiation of effective cost settlements for projects
\nAnalysis of contract documentation and preparation of accurate sub-contractor packages for pricing, liaising and negotiating with sub-contractors and key suppliers
\nMeet with clients as necessary to clarify design requirements and explain basis of estimates to ensure bid proposals meet needs
\nPrioritise, manage own work flow and maintain accurate record of tenders submitted
\nArrange sub-contractor enquiry documents to ensure accuracy and competitiveness of estimate
\nDrawing take offs take off quantities from drawings or bill of quantities and preparation of schedule of rates
\nDetermine contractual, financial, technical and operational risks and to find opportunities to minimise risk and maximise gross profit
\nEssential Skills:
\nStrong commercial acumen and problem-solving abilities
\nExcellent negotiating skills
\nGood computer skills, including Word and Excel
\nEffective communication both verbal and written
\nEfficient, flexible, accuracy and attention to detail
\nAbility to multi-task as working on several projects at a time
\nAbility to work to targets and goals within set guidelines and parameters
\nSomeone who is ambitious, dynamic, self-motivated and driven
\nRequired experience:
\n2 years of estimating and job costing experience within M&E construction industry is preferred but not mandatory.
\nFor the right candidate, we are open to offering a hybrid arrangement outside our region; however, scheduled on-site attendance will still be required.
