Back End Software Engineer - 6 months - Glasgow - Outside IR35
\nDay rate - Circa 480
\nHarvey Nash's public sector client are currently looking to recruit a Back-End Software Engineer to join their team based Glasgow/Remote for an initial 6-month period.
\nMain Duties:
\n- \n
- Work across technical teams formed of supplier, contract and permanent resource \n
- Develop new features in a secure way in line with industry best-practices \n
- Provide production support and support on fixing application issues \n
- Identifying production and non-production application defects \n
- Train and knowledge share with colleagues \n
- Looking ahead for future opportunities or blockers, and ensuring decisions by teams align with the technical direction \n
- Identify operational improvements and work to ensure a stable service that can be enhanced \n
- Anticipate and mitigate against project challenges or risks \n
Essential Skills:
\n- \n
- Technology knowledge - Demonstrable experience in the minimum of 4 Of the below: \n
- \n
- Particular working experience with Java 8+ \n
- Experience in using Spring/Spring Boot frameworks \n
- Experience in designing and developing RESTful microservices \n
- Experience writing unit and integration tests \n
- Experience with CI/CD, including build tools (Jenkins, Groovy/Gradle, Maven, etc) \n
- Experience with AWS, Docker containers & associated tooling \n
\n
- \n
- General knowledge - Demonstrable Experience in a minimum of three of the below practices and design patterns: \n
- \n
- Server-side and front-end coding \n
- Programming Best Practices (i.e. Clean Code, SOLID, etc.) \n
- Are familiar with good continuous integration and continuous delivery principles \n
- Experience of microservice design patterns \n
\n
- \n
- Demonstrable Experience in a minimum of 3 of these bridging the gap between the technical and non-technical \n
- \n
- Translate technical concepts between infrastructure, delivery management and service management so they are understood by all \n
- Able to speak on behalf of technical and development teams and facilitate the relationships with indirect stakeholders \n
- Able to share knowledge and mentor (potentially non-technical) colleagues \n
\n
Desirable Skills & Experience
\n- \n
- Proficiency in both Java (particular in Sprint Boot) and JS would be advantageous \n
- Knowledge of multiple JS frameworks and tools (e.g. React, Angular, Vue, NodeJS, Redux, Typescript, Webpack, Jest) \n
- Working experience with MySQL compatible DBs (MySQL, RDS, Aurora, MariaDB) \n
- Experience with Docker/Bash/Shell Scripting \n
