The Opportunity\nOur client is seeking an experienced Tax Enquiries Consultant to join a well-established and growing team of tax specialists. This is an excellent opportunity for a tax professional with strong direct tax knowledge and experience handling HMRC enquiries to work remotely within a collaborative and highly regarded consultancy environment.
\nThe successful candidate will support a broad client base of accountancy firms, from sole practitioners through to Top 100 practices, providing expert advice and consultancy across all aspects of direct tax enquiries.
Key Responsibilities\n- \n

Manage a varied caseload of insured and uninsured Income Tax and Corporation Tax enquiry cases.

Prepare technical reports and written consultancy advice.
\n - \n
Provide technical support and strategic guidance to accountants and tax advisers.
\n - \n
Draft correspondence to HMRC and prepare technical opinions where required.
\n - \n
Take full ownership of enquiry cases, liaising directly with HMRC through to resolution.
\n - \n
Attend Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) meetings where appropriate.
\n - \n
Support Tribunal case preparation, with representation opportunities depending on experience.
\n - \n
Conduct technical research and prepare detailed assignments.
\n - \n
Keep up to date with changes in direct tax legislation and HMRC practice.
\n - \n
Review reports and provide technical second opinions.
\n - \n
Contribute technical content to support business development and marketing initiatives.
\n - \n
Ensure compliance with internal procedures, including Anti-Money Laundering requirements.

You'll have:

A strong background in UK Direct Tax gained within accountancy practice, industry or HMRC.
\n - \n
Experience managing HMRC enquiry work.
\n - \n
A recognised professional tax or accounting qualification, or equivalent experience.
\n - \n
Excellent technical knowledge of Income Tax and Corporation Tax.
\n - \n
Strong report writing and communication skills.
\n - \n
The ability to manage multiple cases independently while working effectively within a team.
\n - \n
A proactive, commercially aware and client-focused approach.
