Join a vital team safeguarding energy infrastructure through expert radiological oversight! As a Radiological Protection Technician, you'll play a key role in supporting the safe management and use of ionising radiation during critical construction phases at the Hinkley Point C site. Your expertise will help ensure compliance, protect workers, and uphold the highest safety standards in a dynamic, challenging environment.

What You'll Do:

\n
• Support and supervise radiography activities, ensuring barriers and equipment are correctly established and monitored.
\n
• Manage storage, issuance, and inventory of radioactive sources, maintaining strict record-keeping and compliance with safety regulations.
\n
• Perform routine radiation and contamination surveys, and respond to incident situations with skilled oversight.
\n
• Liaise with contractors and internal teams to ensure radiography tasks are executed safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
\n
• Support the preparation and execution of radiography work, often during evenings, nights, and weekends, to align with operational demands.
\n

Required Skills:

\n
• GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade C or equivalent)
\n
• City and Guilds in Radiation Protection Grade I or similar qualification
\n
• Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Radiation Protection Technician or health physics monitor
\n
• Strong knowledge of IRR2017 (Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017)
\n
• Competent with IT systems and record-keeping requirements
\n
• Ability to operate effectively within safety protocols and manage radiation sources responsibly
\n

Nice to Have Skills:

\n
• Level 2 Qualification in Radiological Protection or Health Physics Monitoring
\n
• Experience performing radiation monitoring during radiography
\n
• Prior work on a nuclear licensed site
\n
• Experience managing inventories of radioactive sources and related equipment
\n
• Shift work experience, including night and weekend shifts
\n

Preferred Education and Experience:

\n
• Relevant technical qualifications such as City and Guilds Level 2 or NVQ Level 2 in radiological protection
\n
• Proven track record in a high-pressure safety-critical environment, preferably within nuclear or industrial radiography sectors
\n

Other Requirements:

• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, and weekends
\n
• Proven communication skills for liaising effectively with contractors and internal teams
\n
• Commitment to maintaining the highest safety standards and environmental responsibility
\n
• Willingness to work in a construction site environment with associated hazards
