Estimator
\nWe are looking for an experienced Estimator with 5 - 15 plus years' experience from the civil engineering, construction sub-contracting structures orstructural engineering sectors. The position is based in the Cheshire area with some hybrid working.
\nOverview
\nDue to continued expansion, an abundant pipeline of works, and the recent award of a number of significant framework contracts, our client is now looking to appoint an Estimator who will take the responsibility for pricing projects from £1m-100m. The successful candidate must be able to review enquiry documentations to determine the key considerations of all proposed schemes.
\nYou will possess good technical acumen coupled with a positive interest in civil engineering, specialist construction sub-contracting or structures and infrastructure. You will have a professional approach and a keen eye for detail, along with good communication and IT skills. \nThe Role
\nAnalyse and interpret information, including early appraisal of scheme requirements in terms of construction methods, programme and management.
\nIdentify risks and opportunities and incorporate them into a tender bid.
\nCall upon support from design and delivery teams as appropriate to plan strategies
\nIdentify key win themes and manage bids, coordinating input from multiple contributors.
\nIdentify additional information required to inform and benefit the tender.
\nChallenge proposed designs and methodology to identify possible alternative solutions
\nPrice from first principles, building up labour, plant, material cost components.
\nPrepare construction sequences to establish delivery periods.
\nIdentify subcontract packages, and select then manage suppliers
\nLiaise with suppliers, prepare and issue enquiries and analyse and interrogate responses
\nCompile a comprehensive net cost estimate for the works, including preliminary items.
\nPresent net cost estimates at internal adjudications and implement changes.
\nTimely submission of tenders, ensuring client requirements and specifications are met in full.
\nFollow up submitted tenders to help secure contracts
\nGive others an overview of the scheme, highlighting any specific risks and opportunities.
\nContribute to discussions on the commercial approach for each tender
\nReview project appraisals and reflect on post-contract performance of tendered schemes
\nThe Person
\nYou will possess estimating experience with a civil engineering, structures, infrastructure or specialist construction sub-contracting focus
\nWorking knowledge of best practice solutions and optimisation of innovative ideas.
\nGood working knowledge of pricing and quantification methods is required.
\nStrong interpersonal and communication skills,
\nAn ability to form effective relationships with partners under time pressure.
\nProficiency in IT, numeracy and experience of MS Office and various estimating systems
\nEnthusiasm and results focussed, with an ability to work to challenging deadlines
\nEffective negotiation skills with both internal and external clients and teams
\nClient centric and flexible in your approach, you will possess the strategic and creative insight to understand the full range of opportunities contained within tenders
\nPossess hands on experience of holistically leading the technical aspects of multiple tenders
