An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Design Manager to join a leading specialist contractor delivering high-profile faade, glazing and building envelope projects across the UK.

\n

This is a senior leadership role, responsible for managing the design function across multiple projects, ensuring technical excellence, programme delivery, and effective coordination between clients, consultants, project teams and manufacturing.

\n

Working on complex, high-value projects, you'll lead a team of designers while driving innovation, quality and compliance throughout the design process.

The Role\n

As Design Manager, you'll take ownership of the design process from project handover through to completion, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest technical standards.

\n

You'll manage internal and external design teams, coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces and provide technical leadership across the business.

    Lead and manage the design function across multiple faade and glazing projects

    Develop and manage design programmes to meet project milestones

  • \n
  • \n

    Coordinate design activities between clients, architects, structural engineers, consultants and internal departments

  • \n
  • \n

    Manage internal designers and mentor junior team members

  • \n
  • \n

    Allocate design resources across live projects

  • \n
  • \n

    Review and approve technical drawings, fabrication details and design deliverables

  • \n
  • \n

    Ensure compliance with project specifications, Building Regulations and relevant industry standards

  • \n
  • \n

    Manage RFIs, technical queries and design change control

  • \n
  • \n

    Coordinate interfaces between faade systems and surrounding building elements

  • \n
  • \n

    Ensure alignment between structural calculations, fabrication drawings and installation requirements

  • \n
  • \n

    Attend client meetings, design workshops and project progress meetings

  • \n
  • \n

    Carry out design reviews and provide technical guidance throughout the project lifecycle

  • \n
  • \n

    Support Estimating, Commercial, Procurement and Project Delivery teams during tender and live project stages

  • \n
  • \n

    Drive continuous improvement within the design department

  • \n

    Promote Health & Safety through the design process in accordance with current legislation

  • \n
  • \n

    Identify, eliminate and reduce design risks wherever possible

  • \n
  • \n

    Ensure compliance with Building Regulations, CDM requirements and relevant faade standards

  • \n
  • \n

    Promote sustainable and efficient design solutions, considering environmental performance and BREEAM requirements

  • \n
  • \n

    Ensure designs are coordinated to minimise installation issues and programme delays

  • \n
About You\n

You'll be an experienced Design Manager or Senior Designer ready to step into a leadership position within the faade, glazing or building envelope sector.

You'll also have:

  • \n

    Proven experience managing faade, curtain walling or glazing design projects

  • \n
  • \n

    Strong leadership skills with experience managing or mentoring design teams

  • \n
  • \n

    Excellent understanding of faade systems, construction sequencing and project coordination

  • \n
  • \n

    Experience working with architects, consultants, contractors and clients

  • \n
  • \n

    Strong technical knowledge of curtain walling, windows, doors, cladding and building envelope systems

  • \n
  • \n

    Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously

  • \n
  • \n

    Excellent knowledge of Building Regulations, technical standards and compliance requirements

  • \n
  • \n

    Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills

  • \n
  • \n

    Proficiency with AutoCAD and experience of Revit or other BIM software is advantageous

  • \n
