We are currently seeking experienced Crane Operators to support major engineering and manufacturing projects within a highly regulated heavy industrial environment. This role involves the safe movement of engineering loads, supporting vessel operations, and ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the shipyard while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
\nThe successful candidate will be responsible for operating cranes and associated lifting equipment, supporting a range of operational activities across the yard, and working collaboratively with multiple departments to ensure project requirements are delivered efficiently and safely.
\n\nKey Responsibilities\n
\n
- \n
- Operate cranes to safely lift, transport and position engineering loads. \n
- Carry out lifting operations in accordance with approved lift plans and procedures. \n
- Conduct pre-use inspections and routine equipment checks. \n
- Ensure all lifting activities comply with Health, Safety and Environmental regulations. \n
- Interpret work instructions and operational requirements to meet customer and project specifications. \n
- Select and prepare appropriate lifting equipment, consumables, materials and components. \n
- Support vessel operations, maintenance activities and manufacturing teams as required. \n
- Work safely within confined spaces and at height where authorised and trained. \n
- Assist with temporary protection solutions and vessel preservation activities. \n
- Complete all relevant documentation and permits associated with lifting operations. \n
- Verify completed activities meet required quality standards and specifications. \n
\nDuties May Include\n

- Operating overhead cranes and mobile cranes. \n
- Slinging and signalling activities. \n
- Crane Supervisor responsibilities. \n
- Appointed Person duties for lifting operations (where qualified). \n
- Operating overhead magnet cranes and magnet lifting beams. \n
- Fleeting operations. \n
- Supporting boat and vessel movements. \n
- Operating forklifts and material handling equipment. \n
- Working alongside maintenance, welding and plant teams. \n
- Assisting with confined space operations and permit control. \n
- Installation of temporary ventilation systems. \n
- General yard support and logistics activities. \n
\nEssential Requirements\n
\n
- \n
- Previous experience operating cranes within a shipbuilding, manufacturing, construction, engineering or heavy industrial environment. \n
- Valid crane operator certification and relevant lifting qualifications. \n
- Strong understanding of lifting operations and safe systems of work. \n
- Ability to interpret lifting plans, procedures and technical instructions. \n
- Commitment to maintaining high safety and quality standards. \n
- Good communication and teamwork skills. \n
- Flexible approach to working across multiple operational areas. \n
\nDesirable Qualifications & Experience\n

- Crane Supervisor certification. \n
- Appointed Person qualification. \n
- Slinger/Signaller certification. \n
- Mobile Crane Operator licence. \n
- Overhead Crane experience. \n
- Forklift Truck licences. \n
- MEWP, Cherry Picker or Scissor Lift certification. \n
- Confined Space training. \n
- Working at Height certification. \n
- Safety Harness training. \n
- Full UK Driving Licence. \n
