Specialising in the design, fabrication and installation of high-quality building envelope systems across the commercial, residential, retail, leisure and industrial sectors.
\nAs the business project portfolio continues to grow, we are looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to lead the in-house design team and support the successful delivery of complex faade projects.
\nThe Role
\nThe Design Manager will lead the design department, ensuring the successful delivery of multiple faade projects from tender handover through to manufacture and installation.
\nThis role requires an experienced faade professional with extensive knowledge of aluminium glazing systems, curtain walling, windows, doors and associated building envelope products. The successful candidate will manage a team of designers while working closely with our commercial, production and installation departments to deliver technically robust, buildable and commercially successful solutions.
\nKey Responsibilities
\nLeadership & Team Management
\nLead, mentor and develop the in-house faade design team.
\nAllocate design resources across multiple live projects.
\nCarry out design reviews and provide technical guidance.
\nSupport recruitment, training and professional development.
\nPromote collaboration across all departments.
\nDesign Management
\nManage projects from contract award through to completion.
\nReview and approve construction details.
\nTechnical Responsibilities
\nDevelop practical and innovative faade solutions.
\nReview architectural and structural drawings.
\nEnsure compliance with:
\no Building Regulations
\no CWCT Guidelines
\no Relevant British Standards
\no Client specifications
\nSupport value engineering while maintaining quality and performance.
\nProject Coordination
\nAttend client, consultant and design team meetings.
\nCoordinate with architects, engineers and main contractors.
\nManage RFIs and technical submissions.
\nSupport commercial teams with design-related variations.
\nWork closely with fabrication and installation teams to ensure buildability.
\nManufacturing & Installation
\nLiaise with production to ensure designs are practical and efficient to manufacture.
\nResolve technical issues during fabrication and installation.
\nEnsure installation methodology is considered throughout the design process.
\nEssential Experience
\nProven experience managing commercial faade design projects.
\nStrong understanding of:

\no Aluminium Windows & Doors
\no Structural Glazing
\no Brise Soleil
\no Canopy Systems
\no Fire-rated Aluminium Systems
\nExperience working with leading system suppliers such as Schco
