Manufacturing & Engineering Supervisor
Job Description
Our client is currently looking for a Manufacturing & Engineering Supervisor to join them on a permanent basis.
\nLocation LE12 (Barrow Upon Soar)
\nPurpose of the Role
\nReporting to the Managing Director, this role supports the day-to-day operation and growth of the business. The successful candidate will provide engineering expertise, supervise workshop activities, coordinate production, manage customer and supplier relationships, and help drive operational efficiency and continuous improvement.

\nKey Responsibilities
\nOperations & Leadership
\nSupport the Managing Director in the daily running of the business.
\nCoordinate workshop activities and prioritise workloads to meet customer deadlines.
\nSupervise and support machinists and workshop personnel.
\nPromote a safe working environment and maintain Health & Safety standards.
\nIdentify and implement operational improvements.
\nEngineering & Manufacturing
\nSupport CNC and manual machining operations.
\nReview engineering drawings, specifications and manufacturing methods.
\nProvide technical guidance and resolve production issues.
\nAssist with tooling, fixtures, workholding and process improvements.
\nSupport quality assurance and continuous improvement activities.
\nProduction Planning
\nAssist with production scheduling, capacity planning and resource allocation.
\nMonitor work in progress and delivery performance.
\nCoordinate subcontract operations where required.
\nSupport purchasing, stock control and material availability.
\nCustomer & Supplier Management
\nAct as a key contact for customers on technical and production matters.
\nLiaise with suppliers for quotations, purchasing and delivery management.
\nBuild and maintain strong working relationships with customers and suppliers.
\nCommercial & Business Support
\nAssist with quotations, job costing and production reporting.
\nMaintain production and quality records.
\nSupport strategic planning and business growth initiatives.
\nSkills & Experience
\nEssential
\nTime-served engineer, toolmaker or machinist.
\nStrong knowledge of machining and manufacturing processes.
\nExperience leading or supervising engineering teams.
\nAbility to read and interpret engineering drawings.
\nExcellent problem-solving, communication and organisational skills.
\nProficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, Word and Teams.
\nCustomer-focused with the ability to work independently and make decisions.
\nDesirable
\nCNC programming experience.
\nExperience within precision engineering or subcontract machining.
\nKnowledge of purchasing, estimating or production planning.
\nUnderstanding of ISO 9001 quality systems.
\nForklift licence.
\nExperience managing supplier relationships.
