Location: UK - Hybrid

Scope of Work: An exciting opportunity for a Senior Civil Design Engineer to lead the design of electricity substations across the UK from concept to completion, overseeing drawings, calculations, and specifications for a variety of civil structures and infrastructure..

\n Turner Lovell is currently recruiting for a Senior Civil Design Engineer to join a rapidly expanding engineering design consultant and grid connection contractor. Our client is renowned for delivering exceptional solutions within the power, energy, and infrastructure sectors.
\n As a Senior Civil Design Engineer you will:

    \n
  • Lead the end-to-end civil design of electricity substations (up to 400kV) across the UK.
  • \n
  • Attend site visits, client meetings, and design reviews to monitor progress, resolve technical issues, and maintain alignment with project scope.
  • \n
  • Coordinate closely with internal design teams and external stakeholders to ensure projects meet technical, safety, and quality requirements within time and budget constraints.
  • \n
  • Manage design risks and develop practical, buildable engineering solutions throughout project development and delivery.
  • \n
  • Oversee design reviews and ensure integration with adjacent disciplines such as electrical and structural.
  • \n
  • Guide and support junior members within the team.
  • \n

\n The ideal profile is someone who has:

\n
    \n
  • Degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • \n
  • At least 3 years of industry experience, ideally within power transmission, distribution, substations, or related infrastructure in the energy and renewables sectors.
  • \n
  • Strong understanding of project lifecycles from feasibility through handover.
  • \n
  • Familiar with AutoCAD and MS Office; experience in Civil 3D, Revit, or Navisworks is advantageous.
